As part of the Domaine de Juliettte, this gite has its own private entrance, garden, and terraces, with easy access (20 paces) to the Romanesque swimming pool. The pool is sheltered in a courtyard that comprises a walled garden, fruiting trees,

climbing wisteria and smooth paving. The pool is shared, but numbers are always minimal and the tranquility/quiet is what everyone enjoys and writes in our reviews.

Beyond the pool area, the 6 acres of land that surround this holiday home provide play areas, full sized boules pitch, tree swings, open fields for playing ball games and meadow/tree sheltered areas where you could just find a hammock to while away your Dordogne dreams.

We know you'll marvel even more at the beauty of this part of France when you observe the heavens in the night skies.

Further details

The pool is equipped with lights for late night bathing, and is closed to allow cleaning prior 9:00am each day. We ask all guests with pets to be especially alert and attentive to their pet whereabouts, activity and sensitive to other visitors here.

The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

This region offers crystal clean air and fertile ground in which truffles, nuts and mushrooms flourish, and the local farmers breed geese and ducks to produce the world's most exquisite foie gras. The hot Summer here is perfect for the vine, where local vineyards produce globally acclaimed wines and many other regional tipples, like Vin d'Noix.

There are many places of historical interest well worth a visit. All the local Bastide towns of Eymet, Monflanquin, Castillonnes, Villereal and the simply beautiful villages of Monpazier, Issigeac (with its beautiful medieval houses and bishops palace), Pujols and Penne d'Agenais with its winding streets and the church at the summit of the hill are all within easy drive.

These Bastide towns, so characteristic of the area, were constructed by both the French and the English when this area was fought over during the 100 Years War and the towns frequently changed hands, in the case of Castillonnes having been divided down the middle for many years.

There are many interesting places for walkers and day trips. The renowned prehistoric sites of the eastern Dordogne, the famous cave paintings at Lascaux

especially, the old cave dwellings including Roc St Christophe and many caves with wall paintings, etc. There are also the very pretty towns of Sarlat, Domme set on top of the hills, Roc Gageac on a cliff beside the river and the castles of Beynac and Biron.

Ample for 2 to 4 people, this light and spacious cottage is an ideal self-catering home from which to enjoy the tranquil and peaceful grounds of Domaine de Juliette; close to all attractions and amenities and a perfect base to explore the delights of the Dordogne. A perfect romantic setting for couples, or an ideal location for any family or small group wishing to explore the rich and varied activities available in the area. We also welcome pets, where our situation here far from any traffic and immense grounds lends itself for being a wonderful environment for dogs too.

The surrounding grounds comprise of 6.5 acres of open fields, meadow, lush landscaped gardens for you to explore and find a shady spot to relax in during your stay. There is an 11m x 6 m Romanesque style swimming pool set within a walled garden and loungers are provided to while away the hours under your own walnut tree. Figs, plums, and cherries are just some of the fruit trees you can sample and enjoy for breakfast or supper - dining al fresco on your veranda. A BBQ,full sized boules pitch, table tennis, 2 guest bikes, and badminton court are at your disposal or take a stroll direct from your door - not a main road in sight or ear shot!!

This really is a truly perfect environment to re-charge those batteries, discover quiet moments, doze in a hammock, let your children loose to explore and venture, and indulge in the French pace of life.

The night skies here are also so terrific, with the discovery of shooting stars, glow worms and utter silence being yet another joy to enjoy from a stay at Domaine de Juliette.

Lastly, you can find reviews of Domaine de Juliette on Tripadvisor too, where we have been number 1 for over 2 years for our area.

Bergerac

One of the most popular villages in the area is Eymet, just 2Km from us, making us a perfect location for enjoying this beautiful historic Bastide village.

As well as having some of the best restaurants in the area, Eymet hosts the famous night-time market throughout the months of July and August, along with the traditional market on every Thursday.

In fact there are markets for every day of the week spanning across all the local villages, each boasting their own specialities of fresh produce, wines, cheeses or traditional art. During the summer months there are local festivals and fetes galore for you to enjoy or take the time toexplore the exquisite chateaux of the area.

There are several golf courses ranging from 10 minutes to 60 minutes drive away, which include the famous French course at Chateau Vigier.

The Dropt, Dordogne and the Vizhre rivers offer either tranquil, or exciting canoeing and boating, with excellent fishing points in all directions.

There are masses of tracks for walking and cycling, and horse riding stables can be found locally at Sadillac.

Interesting places for walkers and day trips include The prehistoric sites of the eastern Dordogne, the famous cave paintings at Lascaux, the old cave dwellings including Roc St Christophe and many caves with wall paintings, etc. There are also the very pretty towns of Sarlat, Domme set on top of the hills, Roc Gageac on a cliff beside the river and the castles of Beynac and Biron.

Finally, the small wine growing town of St Emilion on the road to Bordeaux is not to be missed.

"Unpleasant"

It's unfortunate when you book somewhere and you're disappointed with it when you see it. Much more so when it's for your holiday rather than business. I'm often delighted with my … More

Unbelievably rude guests!
They were clearly dismayed before they even reached the front door of Capulet, these guests were never going to enjoy a rural 18th century gite holiday with complementary wine, fresh cut flowers, beamed ceilings and unspoilt views, without a mini-bar or iron-press in sight.
After their introductory tour, I left them to unpack and returned to check all was well, in case their frosty response to my greeting was just a result of their long drive.
Instead, I was bombarded with 'certainly not what we expected', insults of the kitchen, bathroom, immense disappointment, and I immediately recognised their issues were things I could not address, since they seemed to expect a 5 star city break, Hilton, not gite type of luxury.
I generously offered a refund, which they accepted and it was in their account before mid-night, allowing them to leave/find something they did like and still enjoy a holiday in the morning. Disgusted now to read their review, which is full of inaccurate facts and nonsense, clearly written by a professional TP contributor well practised in leaving a trail of grievance with her 100 ratings showing more than 10% terrible/poorly graded trips, and prompted to turn on me because they simply couldn't find anything that suited them.
Please just read the other reviews for some balanced opinions from genuine guests that stayed for a week or more, rather than these who stayed just 14 hours.

"Can't wait to return"

Having just spent a memorable week ( with husband and springer spaniel ... Ellie) at Gites du Capulet, we moved north as the Gite was fully booked for our second week( am not surprised!). The accomodation was exceptionally spacious, well resourced and perfect for everything we needed. The bed was large and very comfortable, with doors that opened onto a patio overlooking the open fields. The spacious lounge had a long verandah which was perfect for relaxing and eating in the long evening sunshine! The pool was especially pleasing to cool down or swim ( left that to the husband). The gardens, which were full of fruit trees and beautiful flowers, were spacious and full of different nooks and crannies where you could sunbathe in peace or snooze in the shade! Denise and Brian ... our hosts.... were so friendly, they made our stay really relaxing and gave us loads of tips on where to go and which restaurants to choose! The area was full of wildlife including red squirrels, red deer and red kites! There were lots of quaint villages to visit ... we loved Eymet....as we meandered through the valleys. A great week, an excellent choice of accomodation. Can't wait to visit again!

"Good location, adequate gite, lovely owners"

We stayed here last week and had a lovely time. The owners are very helpful and their terrace is facing the Gite de Capulet so you can't miss each other, but if you don't want to be overlooked, we found a private quiet spot in the side garden. The pool is shared by the owners and other larger gite so there is some noise from the pool but wasn't really a problem. The gite was perfectly adequate and the bed was one of the biggest most comfortable we have ever slept in. Good location for exploring.
