Eco-friendly villa in one of Italy’s best kept secret towns amongst the northern lakes which can accommodate up to 8 people. Situated in the hillside of Bergamo, a medioeval walled town, close to the shopping mecca of Milan, the beautiful villages of lake Iseo, Garda and Como.
The property is a four-bedroom secluded eco villa. The refurbished property has been adapted with sustainable local materials, in keeping with the surrounding picturesque woodland, winding roads and eye-catching views of open countryside. Heating and hot water is powered by solar panels, integrated with a wood burner.
At extra cost we provide dinner, cookery lesson and beauty treatments.

The closest airport is Bergamo Orio Al Serio (15 minutes from the villa).
Also Milan Linate and Malpensa are with 45 mins and 1 h 15mins away.
The closest train station is Bergamo or Milano Centrale
If you are driving the motorway exit on the A4 is either Bergamo or Capriate, both 15 minutes from the villa.

The Lombardy / Bergamo Alps/Sondrio region

Bergamo nestles at the foot of the Prealps Orobiche, on the northern border of the Padana Plain. The name Bergamo comes from the word Bèrghem meaning ‘house on the hill’.
The city is in two parts. The lower city (citta’ bassa) has all the hustle and bustle of a modern Italian town, whereas the upper city (citta’ alta) is surrounded by ancient walls built by the Venetians and is characterised by narow cobbled streets and buildings dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries. The biggest monuments are concentrated in Piazza Vecchia and Piazza del Duomo: Podestà’s Palace, Ragione’s Palace, Duomo, S. Maria Maggiore’s church, Colleoni’s Chaprel, the Baptistery and the Contarini’s fountain.
Bergamo is one hour from Milan, home of ‘The Last Supper’ by Leonardo Da Vinci and famous for fashion and shopping. It is one hour from lakes Garda, Como and Maggiore and half an hour from Lake Iseo, home of the legendary Riva speedboat.
The famous town of San Pellegrino is only half an hour away and you are 15 minutes away from Sotto Il Monte, the birthplace of Pope John XXIII.
For those interested in outdoor pursuits the area offers unrivalled opportunities for hiking, mountain bike riding, golf and riding. The ski resorts of Foppolo, Carona e Piazzotorre are just an hour’s drive away.

The villa is 1 Km from the centre of the village of Mapello which has two mini-markets, a butcher, a bakery, a fruit & vegetable shop, bars, restaurant, take-away pizzeria.
Every Thursday morning there is a market where one can buy fresh produces.

We had an unforgettable week in july -09 in this beautiful and comfortable villa. We loved the peace in the forest surrounding the house. Thanks to the owner for the hospitality.

The welcome on arrival was excellent, everyone was helpful and very friendly. The Villa is perfect a heaven of peace and relaxation and beautifully finished right down to the bath robes and hot tub towels. Everything needed was there. A great base to explore the area and the lakes, but do not miss the old city of Bergamo!
The children loved looking for wildlife in the woods and great country walks with amazing views and great finds like the war memorial just up from the villa.

Wir haben uns in diesem Haus sehr wohl gefüllt und wurden sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit behandelt. Die Ruhe und die schöne Ausstattung des Hauses tragen dazu bei. Zu empfehlen für alle die ein Auto haben und am Abend die Ruhe suchen. We have feeled very good in the villa and the host are very friendly and helpfull. The silence and the very good furniture of the villa was helped to have a fantastic holiday. We recommend for all which have car and will go back in the evening..
