The house is ideal for a family or a couple, it has an independent entrance with a small garden and 2 double bedrooms. There is also a bed settee and a small spare room with a desk and the possibility of adding another single bed and/or cot. It is ideally situated in the centre of Bergamo and well served by busses to the centre, citta alta and the railway station, making it an ideal base for Northern italy. The train statation is about 10 minutes away and from there trains run to Milan and Brescia, and onward to Venice and many other destinations.

The Lombardy / Bergamo Alps/Sondrio region

Bergamo is a 15th century walled hill town. It is about 40 km from Milan and many people live here and work in milan. The winters are sometimes cold but short, you can ski in the surrounding mountains but it only snows 2 or 3 times in the city each year. We also have a mountain retreat for the nature lover, see the house in Zambla Alta, Lombardia on this web site no 10923 so we can offer a twin destination holiday. The spring and early summer is lovely but then in August it gets very hot. There are a lot of things to see and do in the area, Milan for the shopper and the culture vulture or football fanatic, Venice for the romantic, Verona for the opera and lots of lovely smaller towns. The lakes are aesily reachable by train for a day trip or longer. Swizerland is about an hour by car or train with various tourist train rides to take you over the alps. Bergamo itself is beautiful with its walled upper town and funicular.

Bergamo was walled by the Venetians as the nearest town inder their control to Milan. It has some fantastic old structres, theatres and villas. There is an out door swimming pool in the summer and a lot of local walking. There is a large national park within walking distance, a safari park and plenty of local transport to take you up into the mountains. There are several folk music festivals, local rtown carnivals and of course Football. The local team is Atalanta and they are is Seria A.

How to get there

Cheap flights into Bergamo with Ryanair, Jet2 and BMI Baby coving most of the country. all have agreements with the car hire companies at the airport.

The house has central heating, big rooms and is nice and light. There is a desk in the spare room for anyone who needs an office and a parking space within the gates surrounding the garden. Everything is on the same floor which is slightly raised from the road with 3 steps. It is easily accessible for both push chairs and wheelchairs. It is a child friendly house and on a cul-de-sac opposite the local church. If you are interested we have a small mountain retreat in the mountains outside Bergamo. See this website home no 10923. Although small the garden has chairs for use outside and an external power supply. The car comes within the confines of the house and there is a high gate to protect it, although this is a very low crime area.
