Home description
Shangri La means ‘earthly paradise’. Sri Lanka means ‘resplendent land’. Together they make Shangri-Lanka, which to us simply means ‘home’. Shangri-Lanka is a unique boutique guest house situated in the heart of a traditional Sri-Lankan village. Surrounded by nature, yet only minutes from the magnificent Bentota beach.
Shangri-Lanka offers a holiday experience with a difference. No hotel receptions, no standard packages, no crowds of other guests, no time restrictions. Just great hospitality and genuinely personal service, with all the facilities you need whenever you need them.

The Sri Lanka Southern Coast region
Coast and country, ancient and modern.
You will literally be spoiled for choice in Sri Lanka. The coastline in either direction from Bentota is simply packed with glorious beaches.
Colombo is a bustling city with modern shopping, traditional markets and many cultural attractions, while Galle has a fascinating history and architecture reflecting centuries of occupation by the Portuguese, Dutch and British.
Inland are green hills, tea plantations and the splendid town of Kandy, home of the famous Temple of the Tooth and the unique, must-see elephant orphanage at Pinnewala.
The island’s historical sites are simply not to be missed either, with the famous ‘cultural triangle’ full of amazing ancient ruins and well-preserved reminders of previous civilisations. And of course, Buddhist temples are to be found everywhere, many exhibiting superb works of art and all representing a living connection with the peaceful, mainly Buddhist local people.
