EAGLES NEST *boutique style*
About the home
The Eagles nest is a large and airy top floor, brand new build apartment right on the coast with the most amazing uninterupted views. the apartment will sleep six people however five comfortably.
The nest has two fantastic double bedrooms with quirky and unusal interiors furnished by local designer . Our feedback is 100% positive and many guests comment this really is the most stunning place they have ever stayed. One bedroom has an en suite and there is a second bathroom with full bath. The lounge dining area will seat 6 as does the Balcony area, which has perfectly amazing, stunning views of the sea, mountains and historical castle remains from the times of the moors and Christians. The sun sets infront of the eagles nest every evening and is breathtaking (the main photo picture is the usual evening view in the winter months) we are proud to keep the apartment in perfect condition for all future guests and the apartment is re painted every three to six months to obtain pristine condition. i am an extensive traveller and have often been very disapointed with accomadation that sounds great... but isnt.. so i run the eagles nest with this in mind.. we pay extreme attention to detail and try to account for everything to make your stay as perfect as possible.
The property is suitable for young singles and couples, older couples, families and individuals looking to enjoy the wonderful village of Villajoyosa and yet be close enough to the busy and colourful town of Benidorm. The pool is large and very quiet, with a separate section for children only, the pool area has umbrellas and showers. during the summer months you may still find you have the pool to yourselfs as the spanish never use the pool during the day, only after 6pm when it is cooler. this area is ´real spain´, in the old streets of villajoyosa the locals still sit out at night, cooking, knitting, danicng and there are a few donkeys still kept in the main houses which is quite a site to see.
Please be aware this is ´real spain´´ with all the quirks of a spanish village. (it is not a 5 star luxury man made resort for example) and is suitable for well traveled adventurous people who wish to stay in one of the few remaining traditional spanish places.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region

The Eagles nest is on the edge of the beautiful fishing village of Villa joyosa and the shores of El Paraiso. Located 30 kilometres north of Alicante on the Costa Blanca the town of Villajoyosa lies at the mouth of the River Sella. The scenery from the Eagels nest stunning with a mountainous backdrop and surrounding citrus fruit plantations as well as olive carob and almond trees The town is also home to one of the regions best fiestas, the festival of the Moors and Christians which culminates in a colourful parade with fireworks.
The festivities called ‘Moors and Christians’ is lived to the max here. Usually at last week of July, there are parades with impressive costumes and accompanying music. There is also a real live re-enactment of the landing of the Moorish Army on the beaches at dawn with rustic weapons being used until, when the night falls, and the Arab leader and his army are thrown into the sea, being defeated. If you want to stay awake this night then ‘do as the Romans do’ and try the famous drink called ‘nardo’ made from coffee and absinthe. have more than 2 and don't expect to remember the evening.
There are also a number of picturebook beaches with talcum powder sand and clear blue waters These include Playa Centro de la Vila Playa Paraiso Playa Bol Nou and further afield Torre and Estudiantes. Walking distance to all local beaches. these beaches have lovely beach shacks open in the summer with hammocks and often live music.
Colourful vibrant and decidedly Spanish Villajoyosa *literally joyful town * is situated just south of Benidorm and is sandwiched between the mountains and the sea . A bustling fishing port, the distinctive brightly painted facades of the towns houses were designed to guide the fishermen home from sea. The old part of this town is called the Arsenal and is situated on the shore. It is well wroth taking a stroll around the narrow streets with lively colored houses built on the flank or side of the river bank. Although many may think this to be dangerous, the reason behind this was so that the fishermen could see the sea from their homes. lovely to wander the old streets.
You can also always smell the distinctive aroma of chocolate. The fame came to this humble town when it started to import from Ecuador and Venezuela this delicious plant in the 18th century. Nowadays, you can taste all kinds of varieties in the shops called Valor which produce and commercialize chocolate all over Spain.
Steeped in history this is one of the few towns on the Costa Blanca that remains undiscovered and yet is just a few miles drive to the busy town of Benidorm. the apartment has direct views onto historical ruin buildings and the sea and mountains and is in a peaceful and breathtaking area.
Villajoyosa has a colourful history with the Romans building the first settlement here but today the feel is overtly Spanish. The town has retained many traditional features such as its fish market and there are a number of restaurants along the harbour that serve some of the best seafood in the region. The town is also known for its production of chocolate The old town has been declared a historic site and its here that youll find the multicoloured houses, Villajoyosas gothic church and a number of Roman bridges. this i all very easy walking distance form the nest, and most of the walk is very pretty with mountain views and lovely 700 year old coloured houses en route into the main village centre.

The Benidorm / Villajoyosa area
There are many, many places to visit whilst enjoying your holiday here. the exciting towns of Benidorm (its actually really nice)! and Alicante are nearby, along with the huge theme park, Terra mitica, the water parks, zoo's, caves etc.. the list really is endless. Villajoyosa has many festivals, almost weekly events when the viillage comes alive with tradition and folk lore. The area has the best theme and water parks in the whole of Spain -Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, Acualandia, Mundomar, Riosafary etc...The perfect location for all the family.
Only 10 kilometres from Benidorm guests can enjoy the perks of being close to such a major town while avoiding the tourists that inundate the resort in summer. Couple this with friendly residents a welcoming local community and the fabulous weather the temperature rarely falls below 16 degrees Celsius in winter and youre looking at a fantastic destination.
Euro tennis is a short drive or walk from the apartment, in the area called Montiboli. Far away from the busy traffic and mass tourism, yet within easy reach of Benidorm and the large fairground park of Terra Mitica.
Markets: There are excellent morning markets at Benidorm on Sundays, Altea on Tuesdays and Villajoyosa on Thursdays.
Good places to eat and drink in villajoyosa.
Cafe Sam.. Lovely modern bar and restaurant with inside tropical garden and great food and wine. on the sea front next to the underground parking sign. very up market and trendy. try the fillet steaks. well priced. lovely setting. good service.
Gusta pizza.. pizza cafe. on sea front next to tropical reef and t class bars. fab everything. great fast service, wonderful pizza. very good house wine euro a glass. open all day till very late. gets very very busy with the spanish so go early eve as after 10pm is packed out.
Alana... bar. 2 mins walk along from gusta pizza towards the port. owned by ann and alan. previous guests of the eagles nest, who loved it here so much they moved here. lovely freindly people and pretty setting for coffee, drinks and food in afternoons. the coffee is the best i have ever had in spain. turns out these people used to run a coffee business which now makes perfect sense! doesnt open very late so go early eve.
The chinese.. 2 mins walk towards paraiso from the nest, great food. very very cheap. 3 course meals with bottle of wine from 5 euros.

I can't express how much I loved this place. So captivated I could have sat all week on the balcony looking out at the view. Perfect place for a relaxing holiday. Villajoyosa is a short safe walk away - beautiful little place and super beach - I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed in any way, my only wish is that we could have stayed longer. The pool is even nicer than it looks on the pics and directly below the balcony so kids were up and down the lift to the pool whenever they wished. Felt very safe walking around day time or evening, even little old ladies sat out at night chatting on the benches. What a truly lovely place and host. Loved it. Response: hello. thank you, you and your family were lovely guests and i am really happy you loved the nest. hope to see you again one day. kind regards, Wendy. |

My family and I have just spent four weeks staying at the Eagles Nest. The veiws are just lovely . It was a truely relaxing holiday, away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives. We loved the apartment and it's location. I especially enjoyed a morning swim in the beautiful clean pool all to myself. The local tram station was fab, it meant that we had easy access to many days out exploring other areas of Spain. We hope to return again one day. Response: thank you, happy you had such a lovely holiday, lovely to meet you and your family. wendy x |
Guestbook for EAGLES NEST *boutique style*
The following are emails and guest book quotes and responses. So far 100% positive. references available on request. however... saying that, did have a complaint that a cheese grater was a bit rusty! That's the only complaint so far and now have a new plastic non rusty cheese grater.. seriously.. update. we have had another complaint. please be assured the eagles nest IS very clean. we apologise if you find some dust under the bed, everything does get dusty very quickly here and we do our best. if you arrive and something is wrong please tell me and we will correct it straight away.
also guests please be aware that there are some spare suitcases stored away under one of the beds. these are for the use of guests if an extra case is needed or you have a broken case and are free of charge to take. this is NOT someones else's stored luggage.
Hi Wendy.
Just a few lines to thank you for your wonderful apartment. We have traveled a lot and I have to say that "Eagles Nest" is by far the most comfortable and well equipped apartment
we have stayed in. What can I say about the view from the apartment it has to be seen to be believed. We were the envy of our friends who were with us and stayed in other apartments.
Villajoyosa is a beautiful place and because of the tram service it is easy and cheap to travel to Alicante, and Benidorm . We would like to return another time but I see that we will have to wait
for a while as you seem to be booked up for some time, so no surprise about that.
Again many thanks for being so friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the evening you joined ourselves and our friends for a meal in the apartment

Dear Wendy and Connor
Just a quick thank you for our holiday at your lovely apartment. It really out did our expectations and the view was amazing, even nicer than the photo's. We have some lovely photo's of the views that we shall send and i hope you enjoy them, you are welcome to use them on your website. Your holiday apartment really is everything you promised and we were looking to come again for a week in September however i see you are now fully booked which is not surprising. Are you on trip advisor as we would be more than happy to write a report? It's great that people like you run wonderful properties like this, thoughtfully and honestly. Thanks again for everything and the wine and we hope to return in 2012 with Peter's parents this time. They would love it.
Tracey and Peter.
Hi Wendy,
Sorry it's taken so long to speak to you, hit the ground running on our returnto the UK. Thank-you for a lovely holiday. The apartment was wonderful and had everything we needed .The view was to die for, the spacious balcony has spoiled us for any other apartment and the pool a superb size in lovely grounds which the boys loved having to themselves for most of the time. We loved the convenience of the tram as it made getting around so much easier as we did not hire a car. Villajoyosa was beautiful with everything we needed and the beach was like far from the maddening crowd.
I see from the website that we are too late to book for next year and it's no suprise. So I bid you farewell and look forward to speaking to you soon. I may come out on a girls holiday in May if all goes well.
Love Kim,David,Jamie and Alex Clark.
Dear wendy.
Thanks so much, we had the most relaxing holiday ever as you know, it really was the best place we have ever stayed in Spain. OMG.. your lovely pool, there was never anyone there, only us!!!! No hidden surprises and everything exactly as you promised, makes a change!! We stayed on in Benidorm for a week after yours, it cost twice as much and wasn't even hald as nice in any shape or form. we wished we had booked 2 weeks with you not one. we will return!
Jayne and Eddie (and family) Liverpool.
Dear Wendy
This is just a quick note to say a really big thank you from me for all the trouble you took to make our week at 'The Nest' so happy. It's the most relaxing week I've ever spent, with none of the normal traumas a holiday usually entails. Thank you for arranging the transfers, the welcome hamper and the tips about where to eat, but most of all for letting us stay that final day. However, I'm really sorry it wasn't clear for you to clean up that morning!
I would love to return someday and as soon as I can persuade my hubby to visit I will be in touch.
Once again, many thanks
Angela
Dear Wendy.
Had a fantastic stay. One great thing about this apartment is you can walk into town in less than 10 minutes, stroll to the beach bars, and get the tram either into Benidorm or Alicante for just a few Euros. Everything was perfect, clean, modern and also homely. The view from the terrace was so pretty we sat there nearly all day and night, and we enjoyed making the mojitos and relaxing on the terrace. Sorry I killed the mint plant, hope the new one I got you will survive...!!!
All the best and see you next year

Hi Wendy,
I just wanted to take time to write to you to thank you so much for such an enjoyable stay at the Eagles Nest in Villajoyosa. The apartment was all you promised it would be and more. The kids had a brillant time and especially enjoyed being by the pool. We would love to make a return visit next year and all going well, we will be in touch. we wish you and your two boys all the very best for the future. We are back to torrential downpours but at least we had two weeks of uninterrupted sunshine - Bliss!
Lovely to meet you.
Regards,
Paula (and family, Ireland)
Hi Wendy
Just wanted to say thank you for a great holiday and I hope we left everything in good order. We left the keys behind the cat!
We would recommend your apartment to anyone. The view is amazing and we loved sitting out of an evening, looking at the mountains and sea. We will really miss it. The apartment itself is beautiful and we had everything that we could have wanted. Thanks for catering for our son, we replaced the football as he managed to kick it over the boat yard on the sea front!
Thanks for everything, we may return again!
Best Wishes
Clare, Geoff and Rob
Hi Wendy
Just a note of thanks for the flat which we really enjoyed staying in. Thanks also for all the thoughtful extras that you provided for our stay. The flat really out did expectations as a class act.
As you say, it is quite possible to do a fair amount of exploring without a car, and the tram is a real asset. I'd also recommend cicles galibier for renting a bike for getting into the the mountains (there are some lovely if fairly strenuous options).
Hopefully we left everything in order.
Thanks again for a great week.
With best wishes
Mike (Bristol area)
Hi there Wendy.
Just a email to say a huge thank you, we have stayed in five star hotels which don´t come up to the standard of your rental apartment. we will be booking again and will reccomend you to our family . good luck and happy new year.
Erica and family. (Prestwick)
Dear Wendy,
Thank you so much once more for the pleasant vacations at Eagle’s Nest. We are still under impression from sunny coast, and from the flat with exciting view and nice room decorations (which we have called “Wendy-style”, if you do not mind J ). I will remember hours spent on the balcony watching the castle and the tower… right until next summer. Pictures we made will help support memories. I attached some of them to the letter, maybe you would be interested to see it.
Have a nice day… and a good guests!
Anastasia&Daria (Russia)
Hi Wendy, Just a line to say thanks for letting us stay at your wonderful apartment.
Should we be in your area again in the future, is it ok to contact you directly rather than via the website
if we wished to rent the apartment again.
Again thanks for all your help and kindness.
Robert
hello wendy,
just a quick email to say thank you so much for all your help during our stay. the apartment was wonderful, we will be coming back next summer (as you know)!! and recommending you to all our friends, until now we didn´t realise places like your´s existed. You really have thought of everything! Megan and Ben loved the body boards and thank Connor for lending all his play station games. i want to redecorate my home now after 2 weeks of such lovely things, it looks so drab compared, but Rob says no!!!
Jenny and Rob
This has to be the most amazing view ever, wow, I can't stop looking at the photographs and wishing I was back there.
Mr DJ Hackett. Hertford
Thank you so much, it was like staying in a fairytale, the rooms were so beautiful and unusual, as for the view, what can i say? I did my knitting to the setting sun and the historical castles were so near i could almost touch them from the window. the history here is so real. I will be back next year.
Ms Ida Demant. Denmark
Thank you very much for everything you did, I will be back again to the Eagels nest for my next holiday and for many many more. The details made all the difference and the wine was such a lovely surprise.
John. Surrey.
