The Valenciana region

This area of Spain is teaming with life not just on the beach, but venture further a field and you can experience everything from small tranquil village life to hectic city life in Alicante or Valencia. You could indulge your chocolate passion at the renound Valor chocolate factory in Villajoyosa and shop on a Thursday at its local market. Steep yourself in history in the hill top village of Guadalest or the coastal town of Altea which has a market on a Tuesday, small craft to designer shops and good restaurants day or evening. Travel further up the coast to Calpe, and enjoy its beach and seafood. You could head inland up into the Jalon valley hunting out small villages and looking for bodegas selling local wine. This part of Spain is much more than just beach life, and is well worth exploring either by car or local transport, which covers the area quite well. As with the rest of Spain it has many Fiestas throughout the year

La Cala is within easy reach of Benidorm, either by a gentle stroll along the beach or promenade, about 15 minutes or the local bus, which has a stop across the road from the apartment, the buses run on a regular basis. Some people don’t travel very far as they feel everything they need is to hand. Here is just a small cross section of the things on offer,

La Cala

A good selection of bars, restaurant, bakery, newsagent, beach shop, hairdresser, chemist, supermarket, so you don’t have to go too far!

Within easy reach of Benidorm and La Cala you can experience some of the following

Trekking, Jeep safari, Go-karting, quad bikes, fishing, golf, many water sports, horse riding, daily cruises (along the coast or as far as Ibiza).

Don’t forget the many shopping opportunities for essentials or treats from shops or market.

This area has fantastic multi-cultural and typical Spanish restaurants, wonderful beaches for all the family, and remember it has its fair share of theme parks

Terra Mitica – Europe’s largest theme park

Terra Natura – Nature Park and Water Park

Mundomar – Marine and exotic animals

Aqualandia – Water Park

As a family we have taken holidays in this area for many years and always look forward to enjoying what this part of Spain has to offer.

"Bien, pero..."

Bien en general, pero les sugiero a los propietarios que pongan unas camas algo más largas. A mis hijos, que no son especialmente altos se le salían los pies. También podrían cambiar el sofá cama… More

"A wonderful location, great for families with young children."

I searched for what seemed like hours for the perfect place to stay on our holiday. It had to tick many boxes seeing as I was travelling with young children. I was apprehensive about staying a bit further away from the hustle and bustle of Benidorm centre but in fact, I could not have chosen a more wonderful location. The bus ran every 15 minutes and a few minutes later, we were in the centre.
I chose this particular apartment for two main reasons. Firstly the beach is almost on your doorstep and secondly I didn't want to stay in a high rise with small children. The beach is absolutely stunning and one of the best kept beaches I have ever seen. There are a handful of restaurants in the immediate vicinity and a shop just accross the road. Within a 5 minute walk are many many more restaurants, bars and shops but more suited to a family or couple than young night revellers I would think.
We were met on arrival by an English speaking lady who was very helpful and showed us everything in the apartment, which is gated and so very secure. The apartment comes with everything you could possibly need, plenty of cutlery, dishware, pots and pans, books, games etc. The kitchen is very small but adequate unless you plan on cooking a four course meal in. The bathroom has a small bath with shower over so again great for the children. The sun terrace is enclosed and therefore you can sit out even when it is not sunny. Lovely to have your breakfast sitting out overlooking the sea.
The owners are lovely, kind and very helpful and in fact i left my keys in the apartment, which they posted back to me in super quick time.
The only downside I would say is that the apartment needs a little maintenance. A couple of the doors did not shut properly but I was told it was going to be fixed. Also the boiler is quite small so not everyone can have a bath in quick sucession. Overall though I would give the apartment and service top marks.
