The Goa region
Goan life
From the Sandray Luxury Resort take a short walk into town and experience the exotic and fascinating Goan life. Visit the local historical heritage centres or numerous and very old, Portuguese style churches. Travel further afield and visit Old Goa, steeped in history, or inland to isolated bird and wildlife sanctuaries where, amongst other experiences, you can see crocodiles in the wild or feed and take a ride on an elephant.
Perhaps a day on the River Sal fishing is your forte, or simply take a boat ride up the River Sal bird-spotting, including dolphin-spotting out in the bay, and enjoy a fish barbeque on board or on a secluded tropical beach cooked in typical Goan spices.
All of these exciting experiences and many more are at your fingertips. Just ask our helpful staff and everything will be organised for you.
Treat yourself to a very special experience in this fascinating land and come to love its people, its character, its wildlife, history and culture. Your holiday at Sandray Luxury Resort will be a memorable one indeed!
Goa, Climate and Seasons
The exotic state of Goa lies on the western coast of India and was until recently a Portuguese possession. The state still maintains its Portuguese qualities, in particular in its architecture, but it is very definitely Indian in character. The Hindu and Catholic faiths are the predominant religions giving Goa a fascinating cultural identity.
Lush, emerald green paddy fields with villages interspersed about them predominate with many white, Portuguese style churches being in evidence. Mansions and villas, all obviously Portuguese in origin, are a common site alongside the Goan houses which are often situated amongst the woods and coconut plantations as indeed is the Sandray Luxury Resort. Superb stretches of clean white, palm fringed beaches lapped by the Arabian Sea and bathed in brilliant sunshine welcome the tourist.
The climate is tropical and although all seasons have something to offer the most pleasant season for western tourists begins about mid October and lasts until mid March. At this time it is pleasantly hot but not uncomfortable for most people. The influence of the Arabian Sea prevents any month becoming unbearably hot although April and May tends to be hot and humid until the monsoon breaks during early June. The monsoon lasts until mid September and is cool and very wet (warm rain!), a real experience and well worth a stay at some time.
