Home description

The apartment, built in 2003, has been set up as a second home, and is furnished to the highest standard.
It has a large open plan lounge/ dining/ kitchen with 2 comfortable sofas, a dining table for 6 people, TV and DVD player and wood burning stove.
The kitchen area is equipped with fridge/freezer, ceramic hob and electric oven, microwave oven, and washing machine.
The main bedroom has a double bed, whilst the second bedroom has twin beds. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and ample storage.
There is one large bathroom with full bath and shower.
The apartment is centrally heated throughout.

The Aragon region

Benasque is situated in the heart of the beautiful Posets Maladeta National Park in the Spanish Pyrenees. It is largely undiscovered by anyone other than the Spanish themselves.The summer and winter landscapes have captivated our family since we first discovered the Valle de Benasque in the early 1990's. Benasque with its unspoilt, picturesque buildings and narrow streets is an ideal centre for the independent traveller to use as a base for numerous activities such as walking, moutaineering, birdwatching, skiing and other mountain sports. The nature reserve includes big forests of oaks and beeches with high mountain lakes, the last living glaciers of the Iberian peninsular, waterfalls, deep valleys and more than sixty summits above three thousand metres.

The ski resort of Cerler is 6 kilometres from Benasque, although many people prefer to stay in Benasque for the ambience and apres ski facilities. Skiing in Cerler has a very different feel from the well known resorts in the Alps. It is mainly the Spanish who ski here - there are no package tour companies in Cerler! The skiing areas are less crowded with virtually no queuing for lifts. It is an ideal resort for families, whether beginners or experienced skiers.

Benasque area

The area is renowned for the Somontana wines and within an hours drive down the valley, are many family owned bodegas that are open for tours and wine tastings.

How to get there

Zaragoza is the closest airport, 2 1/2 hours by car. Cheap flights by Ryanair from Stanstead to Zaragoza.
Barcelona Airport is 3 1/2 hours. Easyjet, Ryanair, Flybe, and BMIbaby all fly from many regional airports.
Toulouse airport is 3 hours by car.
Bilbao/Santander Ferry services are 4 1/2 hours by car.

The apartment is on the ground floor of a small apartment block of 24 apartments, most of which are owned and lived in by local people. It is situated in a quiet, cobbled, narrow street in the centre of Benasque. It overlooks a garden of a local home and has a small balcony on which to sit and have a coffee or glass of the local wine.

Conditions

£100 deposit per week booked payable on confirmation of booking.
Balance of payment to be paid 8 weeks before departure.
