We walk daily in the mountains and by the river and either have lunch in the village or drive a short distance to our neighbouring villages for lunch as well. We are right in the middle of a National Park of historic significance and protected under UNESCO. The location is equally perfect for summer, spring, autumn or winter - guaranteed sunshine in the summer months and often spectacular into autumn as well. In winter you can often find our mountains with a light dusting of snow but with 2 fireplaces in the house we always feel cosy and warm - we have installed heating and air conditioning in every room as well. The Andalucia region

Apart from its protected nature reserves, Cadiz has a vast inland area in the east of the province that is made up of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park and the Alcornocales Natural Park.

A Unesco biosphere reserve, the dramatically rugged limestone massif of the Sierra de Grazalema is one of Andalucia's most visited natural parks and popular with those interested in hiking, mountaineering, potholing and rock climbing.

Grazalema is the gateway to the park and is just one of the pretty pueblos blancos scattered about the sierra, like El Bosque and Zahara de la Sierra, which overlooks a reservoir.

The inland pueblos blancos (white towns) are well known for their unique beauty and spectacular settings - invariably hilltop locations, with the whitewashed houses huddled around a ruined castle.

Although the most famous of the white towns is Ronda, in Malaga province, Cadiz province can claim many for its own. Often the names of these pueblos blancos in Cadiz are testament to the towns´ significant past as settlements built to defend the respective territories of the Christians and the Muslims; the frequently seen suffix "de la frontera" of a white town place name refers to its historical border position.

Some of the most striking white villages are Arcos de la Frontera, in an unbeatable position atop an elongated limestone cliff and the exceptional Moorish delights of Vejer de la Frontera.

The village has all the necessary amenities, including bank, superettes, pharmacy, as well as bars and restaurants serving delicious Andalucian cuisine. The perfect antidote to busy city life, Benemahoma is the real rural Spain. Only Spanish is spoken in the village, with very few foreign visitors ever finding their way to this small paradise.

With a population of just 500, numbers swell during the first weekend in August to 2,000 during the Fiesta de Benamahoma. This Fiesta commemorates the victorious Christians' ousting of the Moors from Spain. In Benemahoma you will find friendly, helpful locals greeting you as you walk its cobblestoned, winding streets. Hiking, kayaking, paragliding, bungee jumping - see

Benamahoma is popular with people from Seville, as it is located in the middle of a natural park, for weekend breaks and walking holidays.

This beautiful Villa 45 minutes from Jerez airport, built over 3 floors, with terrace gardens and pool, nestles within the village of Benamahoma which belongs to the Pueblos Blancos (White Villages) in the Sierra de Grazelema Natural Park (Cadiz). If you are looking for the real Spain, away from other tourists, with all of the comforts of home 66 Royale Street (the actual address of the house) provides.

With 4 double bedrooms, one single bedroom, and a sofa bed in the living room on the garden floor, the house comfortably sleeps 11. There is one bathroom on the top floor with a Grohe shower and WC. The second floor (entrance to street with kitchen, large living and dining area) has a toilet and wash basin, and on the garden floor there is a shower room which also contains the washing machine and dryer. On the same floor a 37" flat screen TV, surround sound stereo, and DVD player provide a comfortable indoor family area.

Whether you enjoy golfing (25 minutes drive to the internationally acclaimed Arcos Gardens golf course), bird watching, walking, rock climbing, paragliding, canoeing, hiking, touring historic villages and cities (Seville (this is a link to a great tapas foodie tour in Seville - Azahar Sevilla Tapas Tours - -

Cadiz and Jerez de la Frontera are within easy driving distance) or venturing further afield (Granada and Cordoba make full day trips), or relaxing by the pool, this house and village can provide it all.

"awesome house in Benamahoma!"

We have stayed a weekend at Erin´s, and the house is amazing. It has 2 living-room, air-conditioning in every room, 3 floors and patio for barbacue and pool (for summer). The kitchen is completely eq… More

"Immaculate villa in lovely village"

We had a lovely stay in Erin's villa. Everything was clean and in great condition. Very spacious and great shutters to keep out light, heat and noise.

Note that there are a LOT of stairs as it's built into a hill. The pool is two storeys below the basement level of the house. We were with our toddler, it was fine as there were two of us to keep an eye on him but I wouldn't like to stay there with more than one child who's not quite stair-safe yet. And it's not suitable for those who find stairs a challenge.

The only slight annoyance were the noisy neighbours in the pool next door some days and on Saturday evening - but there's not a lot Erin can do about that, and if you don't have small children or aren't looking for silence then you'll be fine. Also the curtains seem to have gone missing from the back of the house - needs more curtains or awnings to cut down on the heat as the sun's on the back of the house from 12 till it sets - great for the pool though!

So lovely to hear from you! Thanks for the feedback and the shade curtains have been replaced plus two large sun umbrellas have been installed. Warmest regards Erin

"Wonderful house in a beautiful village!"

Everything is just perfect: the house is wonderful, the little village picturesque with very good restaurants and small bars, great walks nearby, beautiful pool area and lovely sights from each of the 4 (!) terraces. We just loved all of it. We have been in many rental houses around the world, but this is defenitely one of the prettiest and most equiped: it is like you are at home. So if you are looking for a beautiful house situated in a green, spectacular and authentic part of Andalucia with lots of walks and sightseeing nearby (and very good food..): don't hesitate!
Thank you Erin!

I am so happy that you had great stay. I look forward to seeing you return to Benamahoma. Warm regards, Erin

"Beautiful house in lovely surroundings"

I have been to Erin's wonderful villa twice now and both times found it brilliant. The house is large, spacious and with lovely outdoor space including a swimming pool perfect for dipping in and out of (the large municipal swimming pool in the village is great if you want to do proper lengths and is very clean and well maintained).

The village is perfect, with few (if any!) other tourists and contains a few restaurants and bars which are great for an evening drink or a relaxed dinner. The surrounding villages are worth a visit, but you can also easily spend the week in the house as it is so relaxing (apart from the early morning wake up calls from the cockerels nearby!).

The house has all the amenities you could need including well-equipped kitchen, bbq, tv, dvd, music etc. All in all, a really lovely place to stay and I daresay I will be back again!

Thank you so much - hope to see you back again!

"Beautiful house in a peaceful, scenic white mountain village"

This village house is tastefully decorated and furnished, with all the facilities you could wish for, including a delightful pool at the bottom of a steep terraced garden, with fruit trees. The village itself is very Spanish and friendly with very few tourists. There are bars and restaurants, a bakery, bank, pharmacy and free internet in a little library. The back of the house has terraces with stunning views of the mountains. It is a very good base for exploring the region, with Jerez, Cadiz and Seville all an easy car journey away. The roads have very little traffic. One of the most relaxing holidays I've ever had.

Hi - so happy you enjoyed the house as much as I do. Hope to see you back again soon. Warmest regards.
