The Costa del Sol region
The Costa Del Sol is a beautiful stretch of beaches and holiday resorts along the wonderful South Coast of Spain. Surrounded by the mountain range of Sierra Navadas a Micro Climate is generated which provides year round sunny Mediterranean weather and the snow capped mountains provide superb skiing.
The nearby Airport of Malaga provides air links to the UK of about two and a half hours. Destinations of Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Puerto Banus, Marbella and Gibraltar are easily reach by coast road or motorway.
Benalmadena is the second closes major resort to Malaga Airport just past Torremolinos. The Marina and Costa area is Cosmopolitan and is home to holiday makers from all over the world. The Rich and famous have properties here and moor their boats at the Marina.
Benalmadena however still retains the Spanish traditional feel which has not been lost to Tourism. Architecture is Andalucían with white washed walls and terracotta tile roofs. The resort is divided into three main areas - The Benalmadena pueblo with its narrow streets and traditional Spanish houses.
Closer to the coast is the Arroyo De La Miel ( Stream of honey) which is a small modern town with numerous shops, restaurants, bars and Tivoli World which is one of the best these and entertainment parks on the coast. Here a cable car travels up the to the mountain peak with amazing panoramic views of Africa and on a clear day Gibraltar.
The prize is the Marina which has been voted best in the world with over 1000 moorings. Day and night the area is alive with activities with over 100 shops, restaurants, Diving School and renowned Sea Life Centre and
nearby is a Cinema, discos, Tapas Restaurants and bars popular with teenagers and adults alike.
Ease of access to great shopping, beaches, attractions, enviable climate make Benalmadena a premier Holiday attraction. Within walking distance along the promenade is Torremolinos with San Miguel Street and nearby shopping centre ideal for shop-aholics.
Throughout the year there are an unlimited number of festivals and events of Art, Music, Dance and during Siesta free beach parties can be found offering beer and paella.
