The Costa del Sol region
Benalmadena Pueblo on the Costa del Sol has the best temperatures on the coast. It is usually better than forecasts, and is on the sheltered side of the hill. The climate is great, and even in the winter months it is more like spring & summer in the UK, with many days of sun warm enough to sunbathe. Summer is great, and you can take to family anywhere here at any time of day, without worrying about where they will accept children, because they are welcome everywhere.
Malaga has some great historical buildings, and ruins worth seeing, also a gallery, museums, cathedral, etc, and a sightseeing bus which can take you around everywhere. The "road trains" in all towns are a great way to see around without walking too far, and the horse & carriage rides are fun too. Benalmadena Pueblo & Mijas are both quaint & full of character, and worth exploring.
Visit Tourist Information to find out more, and they can tell you about open-air markets, fiestas, & lots more, there are just so many places to go & things to do !
Benalmadena Pueblo has lots of old cobbled & patterned narrow streets with pretty little houses. In Orange Square there is a fountain & several little open air restaurants - a great place for lunch. The old Church built on the rock in the Pueblo is surrounded by walkways & gardens from which there is a breathtaking view, and is all lit up beautifully at night. Castillo Colmenar is a fairytale castle built just below the Pueblo, and is captivating - well worth a visit (the locals have their wedding photos taken there!). There is also a Stupor on an elevated point whose large dome is covered in gold - very eye catching! Alot of Saints Days are celebrated here, with lights & processions.
Benalmadena Port has really interesting architecture & islands, and a huge selection of boats in the marina to drool over! They also have deep sea fishing, glass bottom boat trips, sailling, water sports, local ferry to Fuengirola, diving trips etc. In the port is the Sea-Life centre which is great for all ages, and there are shops & waterside restaurants of course. Mini-golf, bungy-jumping, feeding the fish in the marina are also great for the kids.
Along the coast alongside the beach is a wide pathway called a Paseo running from Benalmadena right through to the Malaga side of Torremolinos ! The sandy beaches run right alongside the path, dotted with Chiringuitos (beach restaurants), so if you want a nice long walk, on the level, you can walk for miles and still have refreshments whenever you want !

"A very relaxing week in lovely surroundings - home from home."
This was our second visit, having been so impressed the first time. The villa is luxurious, spotless and beautifully maintained. After contacting the owner with a slight issue with the hot tub it was fixed within 2 hours. Friendly, accommodating service. A real must.
