The Costa del Sol region

The Costa del Sol has an excellent all year round climate. Arroyo de la Miel is a small thriving town providing excellent access to all types of tourist activity on the Costa del Sol whilst retaining its Spanish charm. Local buses provide regular and easy access along the coast and up to Benalmadena Pueblo, Mijas, Torremolinos and Malaga. The local train service (CERCANIAS Malaga - Fuengirola line) provides access along the coast both to the Malaga (25 minutes) and Fuengirola (20 minutes). There are plans to extend this service further down the coast in the near future. The train also provides access to and from Malaga airport (15 minutes). The mainline service (RENFE) in and out of Malaga provides access to all the major Spanish cities including Seville (2 1/2 hours) and Madrid. The new AVE high speed service (opened in 2008) reduced the journey to Madrid to 2 1/2 hours. Even skiing in the Sierra Nevada is possible since Granada is only 2 hours drive away (approx 140km)! There are also many travel/ tour operators who organise day trips to the major tourist attractions in the region, including the Alhambra in Granada and also to Gibraltar (about 1 hour by car - don't forget your passport!).
The Benalmadena / Arroyo de la Miel area
Benalmádena is split into three distinct areas:
Arroyo de la Miel - separates the Pueblo on the hill from the sea front. Arroyo de la Miel has an excellent train service running between Fuengirola and Malaga, as well as good road connections (N340/ A-7/ AP-7) and local bus services.
Benalmádena Pueblo (the old white village) - the Pueblo is located a short drive/ bus ride away from the apartment.
Benalmádena Costa - the seafront area with many hotels, beaches, an award winning Marina, with excellent port facilities, fantastic shops, bars/ restaurants, nightlife and a fabulous Aquarium (Sea Life).
Arroyo de la Miel is a small, thriving town located between Benalmádena Costa and Benalmádena Pueblo and is within easy reach by car or public transport of Malaga, Mihas, Fuengirola, Marbella, Granada, Seville and Nerja. The many cafes, bars and restaurants in Arroyo and surrounding areas will suit all pockets, specialising in local, regional and national Spanish cuisine. You will also find English and many other types of cafes, bars, and restaurants to be found in and around the town. A wide variety of local shops will satisfy ardent shoppers! There are many local markets with the largest held on Wednesdays (at Palomo Park) and Fridays (Tivoli World car park). In the centre of town is a large municipal indoor swimming pool, ice rink and fitness centre. Paloma Park with it's large lake, water plume, beautiful plants, trees trees and landscaped gardens is a favourite with children and adults alike. Chickens, cockerels, rabbits, peacocks and other wildlife roam freely. Contained inside the park is a cactus garden with species from all over the world. There are also two children's playgrounds and three cafes. The numerous other tourist attractions nearby include Tivoli World Entertainment Park, Selwo Aquatic Centre, Sea Life Centre, Water Parks and the Benalmádena Marina (Puerto Marina). A cable car (Teleferico) located next to Tivoli World takes 10 minutes to reach the top of Monte Calamorro and offers fantastic panoramic views of Benalmadena from the summit, as well as being able to see as far as Gibraltar and the North African coast on a cloudless day. There are horse and falconry shows at specified times during the day. Las Aguilas (the Garden of Eagles) is also found here. The Costas many golf courses are all within easy reach by car with Torrequebrada and the local Benalmadena Golf Municipal course being the nearest.
Benalmádena Costa - the beach, Paseo Maritimo (promenade) and Benalmádena Puerto Marina are a short walk away where there are many more bars/ restaurants to choose from. The world class Arabian style Puerto Marina which has over one thousand moorings, is Benalmadena's centrepiece and should not be missed. It houses many restaurants, bars, discotheques and shops, and should be visited both in the daytime and after dark. La Carihuela (the promenade from the Marina to Torremolinos) offers many chiringuitos (beach bars), seafood restaurants and shopping. This recently renovated area is worth walk to explore the old side-streets of La Carihuela with its shops, bars and restaurants. If you don't fancy the walk back you can get a taxi for approximately 5 euros.
Benalmadena Pueblo (village) is located on the mountain side. An old, typical Andalucian village with steep, narrow streets and white-painted houses that retain a wealth of culture. The village has more than its share of attractions including museums, Castillo de Colomares (the folly lookout castle of Benalmadena Pueblo), a bullring, sports centre and a wide and varied selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
Tourist Information offices can keep you updated with what is going on. The apartment has both a regularly updated local restaurant guide and local tourism guide full of ideas/ suggestions of things to do.
If you have never visited the area previously, we are certain that after reading through this selection of information, you will have all the knowledge you need to have a great, relaxing or energetic holiday, and you will return, as we have, many times. This area offers something for everyone all year around.

We could not fault the apartment, on our arrival, the apartment was extremely clean and maintained to a high standard. The restaurants and bars were great, the food was good value and plentiful. The quality of food in the restaurants were fantastic, lots of fresh caught fish. The beach was clean and availability of sun beds was not a problem. The trains from the local train station had a regular service running to Malaga, of which we caught the train back to the airport. All restaurants and bars in walking distance. We will be back! Response: Thank you for your kind comments. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. |
Guestbook for Myramar Oasis
• "We went at Easter and it was 'home from home'. We were able to combine sun and sightseeing. The local train service is great and we had a few days exploring Malaga and the surrounding areas" Dee and Mike (Easter 2007)
• "Fantastic location, in easy reach of the town and beaches. A lovely quiet apartment that was a great choice for our holiday. Great swimming pool and gardens. We've already re-booked for next year!" Linda (August 2007)
• "There were no problems along the way, and we would be delighted to recommend the accommodation to any future prospective clients. The information pack in the flat was a nice feature and the eating-out guide, and reviews, were especially welcome. Wok Asiatico we considered best value for money, but there were so many to chose from - and so little time!" Tony Adams (January 2008)
• "The apartment was lovely and clean; everything you needed to make you comfortable in a quiet location close to the train station and shops, cafes etc. We have already booked to go back in seven weeks time. Much recommended" Julie Greenwood (February 2008)
• "All went well at Myramar Oasis on our return visit. The apartment was a credit to whoever had prepared it for our arrival. A year on it was as spick and span as we remembered it. Absolutely no problems along the way." Tony Adams (January 2009)
