The Costa del Sol region

The climate is without doubt the determining factor for the appearance and formation of the densely populated coast of Andalusia, stretching from Almeria to Tarifa, known as the Costa del Sol. More than 300 days of sun per year, and the rest up to 365 which are also pleasant, plus the good average annual temperature, are the best identity cards to define the mildness of the coastal Málaga climate.
The Costa del Sol is a first class international tourist area and therefore Europe’s all-year-round favoured holiday destination, It consists of a string of fine sandy beaches, where the average water temperature is 64ºF (18ºC), and picturesque towns have abundant tourist amenities, resorts and high-rise hotels.
Attractions include zoos, bullfights, water parks, casinos and amusement parks.
Inland there are many known and yet still unknown places like Ronda, Seville, Cordoba and Granada to visit.
The Benalmadena / Benalmadena Pueblo area
The railway station for Benalmadena is located in Arroyo de la Miel, close to the Tivoli Theme Park. Trains run from here to Fuengirola and Malaga. Train travel is cheap and very efficient. The coastal bus service runs along the seafront road
Other attractions in and around the area include Sea Life Aquarium, Tivoli World Amusement Park, Mijas Aqua Park and Go-karting, Fuengirola Zoo and Horse-riding at the Hipodromo Racecourse. If you leave at night for Puerto Marina should know these recommended sites covers the Corry Konnings Bar, Pub Maracas, Mana Pub Pacino's, Mango and Joy Disco... among others.
Benalmadena has a municipal council that promotes all the Festivities with Carnivals and processions. Holy Week, the Passion of Christ and Corpus Christi which is traditional throughout Spain specially in the South of Spain.
Even St. Patricks Day is celebrated in Arroyo de la Miel with the town Plaza taken over for the Irish celebrations. Malaga festival is in August, and in Benalmadena is about the 2nd week of June.
Within walking distance there are 4 beaches to choose from and a variety of shops, bars and restaurants on the beach.
One of the best places on the Costa del Sol for nightlife is Benalmadena, with so many different types of bars, clubs, restaurants that there is always something to suit all tastes. From the latest Clubland sounds with top D.J.'s to swish sophistication and the live jazz, or salsa dancing till dawn, the Marina Port has it all.
This region of Spain also boasts many varied and contrasting Spanish towns and cities, from Seville and Granada, to Ronda, Nerja and Puerto Banus, all having unique sightseeing opportunities.
Gibraltar is also about 1 hour away and is renowned for it's money saving duty free shopping and the famous barbary ape colony high up the rock face. Close to Gibratar, there is also easy access to North Africa, via Ceuta or Tangiers
Whatever you want a relaxing or sightseeing holiday Benalmadena has it all!!!!!!!

I booked this villa for 20 people for my boyfriends surprise 30th in Sept 2011. The interior of the villa is spectacular - The pictures don't do it justice - polished marble, nice lighting, well appointed rooms & seating areas, lots of fridges, ice machine, Ipod docs, Wifi & sky TV. The master bedroom is outrageous - huge with a gigantic bed, sauna, jacuzzi bath, top notch power shower and terrace with beautiful views out to sea . The outside area is large with good views and plenty of areas to eat, entertain and relax. The pool area (includes fridge & bar) & pool are large and comfortable although not heated but this wasn't a problem although we were at the tail end of summer - lovely mid to late 20s every day. At my request, the villa manager Jane had stocked the place full of food & drink before meeting us on arrival. In addition she organised a traditional paella & tapas night at the villa - a chef and waiter came and put on a real feast for us al fresco one night which included bubbles and a birthday cake for about £28 each. We had a cleaner for 2 hours each morning at a cost of about £25 per day but well worth it to come down to a sparkling kitchen/ living area each morning. I found Brians cars on the internet www.briansrentacar.com who dropped off 3 cars at the villa and the car rental covered as many drivers as we wanted at no extra cost. The villa is situated next to a pretty, atmospheric Spanish village - nice place to go for tapas as well a more sophisticated evening meals. The beaches & marina are a 5/10 taxi drive away as is the cluster of cheap & cheerful bars in a place called Sol Y Mar or '24 hr square' - perfect if you want a bit of boozy fun with your mates. We had some great nights on the tiles there as well as some lovely more relaxed evenings in the village and villa. As with all parts of Spain currently, there are a few unsightly half built buildings around Benalmadena and villa Montana's surroundings are a little more built up than the panoramic picture suggests but this shouldn't detract from a great value, beautiful villa in a good location. Thanks Jane Lonsdale and Jane Dennis for a super time. Definitely recommend for groups of friends and familys. |
