The coast from Marbella towards Algeciras has been more sensitively developed than the Eastern part of this coastline. The communities are less densely populated and the environment is well looked after. From the apartment, you can choose to visit the famous Puerto Banus port and sample the life-style of the rich and famous in Marbella with its superb shopping, or just take it easy, relaxing in real Spain visiting the 'white villages' in the hills.
The apartment is also convenient for exploring Estepona and Gibraltar, or heading up into the hills to explore Ronda. The views as you climb through the mountains are truly stunning, an ever-changing landscape of lakes, waterfalls and cork forests.
Minutes away, just along the coast road is Selwo Safari park a great fun day out for families with children. One of the world's most unique nature parks, it is based on the African safari park idea and houses 2,000 animals in semi-wild conditions. There is also a marina.
Parque Acquatico Mijas is one of the best water fun-parks around, located on the outskirts of Fuengirola. Wave pool, kamikaze slide, water chutes, adventure river with winding raft slides and a mini aqua park for the kids. The park also has a full entertainment program including shows for children, water aerobics (displays and free classes), regional dances and beach volleyball competitions.
Just off the N340 highway, Gibraltar, its only 45 minutes drive and is full of interesting things to do. You can go up the Rock for the views and see the apes, or visit the incredible caves dug by the military. One of the little known pleasures is the Dolphin Safaris running out of Gibraltar Marina. They are excellent value for money. The boat trips are relatively inexpensive and you'll always get a result with the Dolphins. In fact if you don't see one you get your money back !
Alternatively, enjoy the Spanish lifestyle on your door-step in Benhavis village and San Pedro town.
