It is 5 minutes drive to Benahavis and San Pedro which are typically Spanish towns with lots of lovely restaurants, bodegas, shops etc. The famous Marina at Puerto Banus and cosmopolitan Marbella with its cobbled streets and Orange Square are within a 10 minute drive. Beautiful Ronda nestling amongst the Sierra Blanca mountains with the oldest Bullring in Spain is reached easily within 45 minutes.
Andalucía is renowned for its top golf courses and the unique sunny and warm winter climate allows golf to be popular all year round. There are nearly 60 golf courses in Andalucía. By car you can reach Los Naranjos, Aloha, Las Brisas and La Quinta within 10 minutes. Torrequebrada, Mijas Golf and El Paraiso within 20 minutes, Sotogrande and Valderama, (Ryder Cup - 1997, 1999 World Championships) within 40 minutes. Benahavis a mountain village situated between Marbella, Estepona, and Ronda, on the southern face of La Serrania de Ronda mountain range, 7km from coast. The village itself is a delightful pueblo, with narrow cobbled streets, that still keep the original Moorish layout, pretty houses, a few shops and a simply amazing choice of restaurants (of which there are 17 in the village) It is known locally as the Rincón de la Gastronomía.
There are a few little shops for essentials, a pharmacy, 2 banks and several lovely galleries including that of the famous sculptor David Marshall. There are several excellent supermarkets a ten minute drive away.
More than seventy percent of the Benahavis area is officially classified as being of environmental interest. One of the most beautiful parts of the area is Las Angosturas, rich in wildlife and vegetation and ideal for rural tourism, trekking and cycling right through the year.
These days, despite the advent of tourism to the town, it remains a typical Andalucían mountain village with a rich historical past. Benahavis is a delightful mountain village overlooking the Guadalmina River.’
There are nine golf courses in the municipality. Part of the success of the game of golf in Benahavis is the wonderful landscape surrounding the courses.
You can be in San Pedro in about 10 minutes and here you will find many delightful shops and there is an excellent market on Thursdays.
Benatalaya is within 2 hours drive of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and its wonderful ski resort where you can hire all the necessary ski equipment. The best months are Jan/Feb/March when the skiing is excellent. It is possible through the winter to ski in the morning and swim in the pool at your apartment in the afternoon! Malaga Airport is one of the busiest airports in Europe, all budget airlines fly to this region of Spain.
