The Andalucia region
Andalucia is Spain’s largest region and it’s the one which evokes the most powerful images of a country famed for its flamenco, fiestas, bullfighting and raw passion. It’s a region blessed with achingly beautiful countryside, majestic mountains and a 900 kilometre coastline which has made it one of the world’s favourite holiday destinations.
Whether you’re into inflatable banana boats and all night laser discos or magnificent Moorish architecture and medieval villages seemingly frozen in time, Andalucia has an irresistible allure.
The Costa Del Sol region enjoys a pleasant all year round Mediterranean climate with extensive bright sunny days throughout the year. Temperatures in winter are typically between 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. In summer the temperatures are typically above 30 degrees Celsius, however the low humidity means the heat is comfortable and not sticky or overbearing.
Here are some things you might like to do during your stay, Marbella isn’t just about the jet set and night life. Being based in this picturesque 11th century whitewashed mountain village you can have it all:
The charm of a traditional Andalucian village, beautiful countryside walks & hikes, restaurants, golf, 7km to the beach, 15mins from glitzy Puerto Banus or simply relax in the garden around the pool.
// Things to do in Benahavis Village
- Swimming in the rock pool

- There are two children’s parks in the village. The new one is as you come into the village next to the river. There is also one opposite the village school on the way to the Gran hotel which has a cafe.
The village of Benhavis is renowned for its culinary delights and is considered to be the ‘gastronomic location’ on the Costa del Sol. There are a number of restaurants in the village which have steak, lamb, fish, etc on the menu and there are also Spanish tapas bars and a pizza restaurant which also does takeaways.

Some of our favourite places:
- Los Monteros beach (30 mins drive)
Drive down to the Repsol garage and go under the road to get on the main road towards Marbella. Go past Marbella turn off and keep going until you come to the Cost del sol hospital turn off, take this exit and turn right into the archway then take the next right and following road round until you come to the end and a roundabout and park up for the beach. This is a lovely beach with the water shallow for small children and lots of kite boarding to watch.
- Tarifa beach (1 hour drive)
Drive down to the Repsol garage and turn right onto the main road and head towards Gibrater. Go past gibralter and follow signs for Tarifa. Tarifa is a great place full of shops, restaurants and has amazing surf beaches backed by pristine national parks. Tarifa is the starting point of the unspoilt Costa de la Luz which is a magnificent area to explore.
- Gibraltar (45 mins)
Drive down to the Repsol garage and turn right onto the main road and head towards Gibrater. This is signed posted all the way. Don’t forget your passport for the boarder. This is still owned by the British and you will find shops as BHS, Marks & Spencers, Mothercare and lots of duty free shops. You can get the cable car up to the rock and there is a café at the top and you will see all the monkeys. Half way up you are go and look at the caves. If you do not like cable cars there are tours at the bottom who will drive you up.

"Peaceful yet central location"
Casa Benahavis provided everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Being in a predominantly Spanish urbanisation it was quiet during the day, we often had the pool and the beautiful gardens to ourselves! The shower was fantastic and just what you needed after a long, hot day. Alison and Clive were very helpful and friendly, and made us feel very much at home. The booking process was effortless and the owner was very informative, even arranging a local taxi for us. Nothing was too much trouble and we would certainly recommend the property, and Benahavis, to anyone.

"A lovely urbanisation in a beautiful spot!"
We have had a wonderful stay in your home and it was ideal for our friend Diane, because of the level walk from the car park to the property and to the pool. A lovely urbanisation in a beautiful spot.
Having stayed in Benahavis many times over the years we are well used to how nice it can be but we particularly enjoyed staying at your property because your neighbours are so very nice and friendly, we recognized the family from Las Faroles and the boys from Villa Josefa. Even Chico came by one morning and stopped to say hello, so we really felt we were part of that little community, which was lovely.
Alison and Clive were very friendly and really helpful to us during our stay, we had some good old chats.
We hope very much to be able to come back again this year.
