Sun, sand and interesting cultural heritage

Rincon de la Victoria is on the Costa del Sol and is notable not only for its beaches and tropical vegetation, but also for its important cultural heritage. Bezmiliana Castle is outstanding - this fortress was built in the 18th century by king Charles III. We also recommend a visit to Tesoro Cave, a marine cavity with several halls where you can see the remains of cave paintings, inhabited as far back as the Palaeolithic period. The town is an excellent destination for water sports, as well as hiking and golf. Come and try the local anchovies, exclusive to this area, in any of the seafront restaurants you will find along the beach.

Añoreta Golf Club: A course with fast greens and broad fairways, against a backdrop of palm trees and the sea. Some of the holes are particularly complicated, while many offer beautiful panoramic views over the sea.

The Tesoro Cave: It is one of the few caves where the mixture of fresh and salty water from the nearby Mediterranean sea have created a spectacular underground labyrinth.

The rise and fall of the tide had an important effect on the development of this cave. There are many legends on this cave about a treasure that was supposedly kept inside. In fact, during the first half of the 19th century, Antonio de la Nari, from Switzerland, spent years searching for it until he was killed by accident in an explosion. In 1918 the abbé Breuil described remains of red Palaeolithic paintings. Some authors believe that it used to be the location of the Phoenician shrine of Noctiluca, goddess of fertility, life and death.
