Home description
Come and spend a relaxing holiday in our holiday home which is situated in the centre of a charming French village at the foothills of the Pyrennees where time almost seems to have stood still. You can choose between enjoying the mountain views from the private terrace or exploring the many varied attractions that this area has to offer -returning home in the evenings to reflect on the days activities.
There is a welcoming woodburning stove in the pleasant lounge/dining room for those cooler evenings when you can relax in front of the TV or listen to music in the comfortable surroundings. For the hot weather the lounge and double bedrooms all have ceiling fans to help you keep cool.
Take time to speak to the villagers who are all very friendly -a great way to practice your French! You can buy fresh bread daily from the van which passes the door.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region
Languedoc Rousillon enjoys a very good climate with around 300 days of sunshine a year. There are the beaches of the Mediterranean to enjoy -just over an hours' drive away, and also many lakes which have been created for swimming locally -such as the one at Puivert -18kms from the house. Belvianes is in the heart of Cathar country, and there are many chateaux to explore, along with medieval villages and of course the world famous city of Carcassonne which is less than an hour away. Rennes le Chateau with its' fascinating history is nearby, it is featured in the Da Vinci Code. For duty-free shopping a scenic 60 mile drive takes you to Andorra in search of all those bargains!
Belvianes et Cavirac area
There are many outdoor activities to enjoy in this wonderfully varied area. For the adventurous there is white water rafting and canoeing on the local River Aude. You can also abseil or rock climb in the local Pierre Lys Gorge. The horse riding locally takes you through wonderful countryside, and can be booked for those who are riding for the first time right through to the most experienced riders. For those who love walking there are many miles of marked trails which take you through forests, gorges and mountains. It is easy to walk all day from the village, and to take a different walk almost every day! The local town of Quillan has many activities during the summer months, notably a Folklore Festival, which culminates in a spectacular firework display. Quillan is 4km from Belvianes.
