Home description
Beautiful medieval, restored 12th century house with pretty courtyard garden situated in the heart of Belves, yet hidden away on a quiet square, with no passing traffic. Only birds can be heard here, yet 1 min. away from the main square with good restaurants and bars and practically all amenities. Parking outside house. This house has 2 very large lounges, a kitchen dining room of 30 sq2 and two good sized bedrooms. Also ideal for 2 couples/persons wishing for privacy as there are 2 separate floors, each with its own bedroom, bathroom. and lounge. This is a very cool house in hot weather.
Belves is a beautiful hilltop medieval village, not too large and not too small. Also, not to be left out, are the friendly neighbours, so every opportunity to practice your French!
The Saturday morning markets are a treat, with people meeting up in the bars for their weekly chat. The night markets with dancing and eating al fresco bring people together from the local areas. This is great too for children who can run around safely. Belves is well worth a look around the little passageways and the troglodytique, underground habitations.
The house has 2 lovely, large lounges, large dining kitchen, 2 spacious shower rooms, 1 spacious double bedroom and a double bedroom. Beautiful views all over the village.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
Situated in the beautiful Perigord Noir, with 30 plus degrees usually from spring to autumn. A host of places to visit, such as the various caves and prehistoric areas. The Perigord is abundant with classical concerts, other musical concerts of high calibre, theatre in the woods, street parties etc.
Belves area
The night time markets are plentiful in the area, one every night of the week, but the Belves one is especially great, with locals coming in from the surrounding villages. Dance, listen to music and choose your meal from the merchants for small prices. Bring your own wine and cutlery if you wish.
You can go canoeing too on the Dordogne or Vezere, or visit some castles at the same time. All this within a short distance of Belves. Belves also has an outdoor swimming pool with slides etc, great for the kids!
On Saturday mornings we have the market, fresh oysters, freshly made country bread and cakes, fruit and veg which taste great. Then get together in the local bars for coffee with the locals and people coming in from the surrounding areas to catch up with the gossip.
For keen walkers, there are also routes around Belves specially designed for hikers. These are available at the local Tourist Info Office, who are extremely helpful. Also, in summer, there are so many concerts, classical, jazz, various to go to that one is spoilt for choice. All over the area there will be dances and parties to go to, for those not already worn out by the daily activities.
How to get there
Bergerac Airport is about 45 mins by car. Ryanair and Flybe serve this area. You can hire a car at the airport or airport pick ups can be arranged by owner.Thank you for the 50% deposit received recently.
When you come out of the airport, turn right and directly right again, where you are heading for SARLAT as signposted. You continue along that highway right until the roundabout, where once again you follow the SARLAT sign (turning right). At some point the signs will be marked Lalinde also, I believe. When you get to Lalinde, you continue straight ahead through the town until you come to a bridge, you'll be turning right onto the bridge and continuing past signs marked Molieres, now I think signs will start to say, Le Buisson de Cadouin, Cadouin, still Sarlat. When you arrive at Siorac, (another half an hour or so) at the 2nd roundabout, turn right to Belves, also signposted. Drive all the way to Belves, you come to Fongauffier, then you drive up the hill to Belves, right up. At the first roundabout, you go straight over, take the 2nd on the right (remember there, the people coming from the right have the right of way). Drive up the slope, you arrive at Place d'Armes, take 2nd on left, Rue Fillols or Filhols. Then 1st on left and you will see a house directly opposite with a balcony, that's it!
