There are beautiful parks and gardens to visit, Belper River Gardens are amongst the finest in the country. Taking walks and hikes in the beautiful Peak District landscape.

Using the power of the River Derwent to drive the machinery, Jedediah Strutt built his first cotton mill, the South Mill, at Belper in 1776. Milford was chosen as the second site for a mill four years later.

The area is so rich in industrial heritage that it is not only of national importance, but occupies a pre-eminent position on the world stage, as an integral part of the Derwent Valley, which is universally recognised as the Cradle of the Industrial Revolution and now holds World Heritage Status.

There is a Farmers' Market every second Saturday of the month on Belper Market Place. Also a regular farmers' market takes place in Shottle at the Railway Inn, Cowers Lane, on the third Saturday of the month.

"Average stay, poor facilities"

This cottage was superficially pretty with oak beams and a old stone fire place. The bathroom adequate/functional, though it clearly leaked through the ceiling which was reported via the key holder.… More

It is unfortunate that after two years of only satisfied guests, we broke a policy rule not to take on long term rentals ( above three weeks ) to allow a couple that had a problem with a delayed purchase in the town. Having consented to a six week period over Christmas and then further extending this for an additional week to further accomadate them, we were unable to allow further time as they further requested and as we had previous bookings, could not allow. After all this they gave us our one and only review which was negative.
Sour grapes perhaps. Sad when people are so ungrateful.
We do not cater for long term guests but you will find everything you need for a comfortable short stay and some private quality time and comfort - we assure you
