1530 - The Stables
About the home
As its name suggests, The Stables was originally used to house horses, but has been tastefully converted to provide an idyllic retreat for a large family or group of friends. The property has its own wood-burning stove, so you can make the most of what the region has to offer, even in the colder months. For the summer, visitors can use the owner’s tennis court or indulge in a spot of alfresco dining in the private patio area at the rear of the property.

The Northern England / Northumberland region
Northumbria is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife. Covering 400 square miles, the Northumberland National Park is the least populated of England’s National Parks, much to the benefit of those visitors seeking peace and solitude. Thousands of paths and tracks weave their way through beautiful countryside, providing exhilarating fresh air and wide-open spaces for walkers and cyclists alike.
Stay a while, roam the countryside but don’t forget to explore further, because the area known as Northumbria offers much more than just the National Park. Northumbria encompasses County Durham, the Tees Valley and Tyne and Wear, as well as covering the North Pennines ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall, the City of Durham and the Heritage Coastline, boasting a selection of protected golden beaches and tiny fishing villages. Northumberland’s Heritage Coast has mile upon mile of sparkling beaches, rocky coves and picturesque fishing villages. Sweeping from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north, to Druridge Bay in the south, popular destinations along the coastline include the horseshoe-shaped sandy beach and dunes at Beadnell Bay, the bustling village of Seahouses, with boat trips from the picturesque harbour, and the kipper smokery and coastal path at Craster.
Adding to the area’s splendour is a chain of magnificent castles: Alnwick, home to the powerful Percy family and the setting for some of the Harry Potter films; spectacular, medieval Bamburgh, standing high on its rocky outcrop; the brooding ruins of Dunstanburgh and pretty Warkworth.
The Bellingham area
Bellingham is surrounded by the Northumberland National Park, is part of the Pennine Way and is near to Kielder Water, all of which makes it a walkers’ paradise and a well-located base from which to see the rest of the region. Bellingham is the unofficial capital of the North Tyne Valley and is supposed to be built on the site of an old Roman station. It is extremely picturesque, comprising of a number of natural stone houses and there is much to see in the village itself, such as its 12th century church, the Heritage Centre and a cascading waterfall, which is just a short walk away. Nearby, other attractions include the Northumberland National Park, Hadrian’s Wall and Kielder Forest and Water. There are plenty of walks to be had in the region, as well as a host of outdoor activities, such as horse-riding, fishing and canoeing.

,This was a beautiful, well-kept, well-stocked, spotlessly clean relaxing place to stay. The large number of bathrooms were especially needed and valued.

,The location was incredibly peaceful.
The owner offered a warm and friendly greeting on arrival and then left us to get on with enjoying our holiday. Really impossible to think of a single criticism, not even a minor one. We desperately needed a relaxing break and this was perfect.
