superb june offer 7 nights £490.Both Castlehill view and Lockup Mews are located in the same building in the centre of Bellingham which is a taditional Northumbrian village and are 3 star rated by Visit Britain. Close to the Roman Wall, the Northumberland National park and Kielder lake and forest. An ideal village for walking, fishing,bird watching or just chilling out.The village has retained its shops,so if you want to eat in, try the local butcher and baker or eat out at one of the local pubs, cafes or restaurants.
Nearby is Wallington Hall, a National trust property and a sprinkling of Bastle Houses (fortified farm houses dating from the time of the Border rievers). Hareshaw linn (waterfall) is well worth the 3 mile walk.

The Northern England / Northumberland region

Northumberlands landscape is varied from the intensive farmland to the east of the County to Bellinghams wild moorland, lakes and forests of the west. Bellinghams history dates back to its 11th cent. Church and the mound that was once its Castle. In the 14th cent. neibouring farmhouses were fortified against the attacks from the Border Rievers (Called Bastle Houses).Whilst in the 18/19th cent. mining for coal, lead , iron and clay have all left their mark on the land.

The Bellingham area

Kielders lake is well worth a visit for walking, cycling(bikes fir hire) boating(small ferryboat) or try the falconry centre. Spend a day at Wallington Hall and gardens. The nearest stretch of Roman Wall is only 11miles away or a little futher afield is Alnwick Castle and its world famous Gardens.

If travelling by car -- From Newcastle use the A69 signposted Hexham/Carlisle. After the roundabout at Corbridge take the next sliproad to the A68-- to roundabout. Leave roundabout on 3rd exit signed Otterburn. Stay on A68 for about 15 miles and look for road junction signed Bellingham (light traffic only). At "T" juction in village take a left and at next "T" junction take a left again. You ar now in Front Street.
From Carlisle take A69 signed Newcastle. Stay on A69 to about a mile passed the Hexham rounabout and take the sliproad to A68.At the end of the sliproad take a left onto A68 signed Otterburn. Then as above.
