Dear Diary,
Just got back from two wonderful weeks in North Cyprus. Holidays are never long enough as you always have so much to do so this year we decided to hire a villa - something new to us - all though we were not disappointed. Villa Annabella had three bedrooms all with air-conditioning - an absolute must in the summer months and plenty of wardrobe space for all our clothes - you know what we're like for over packing! The views from the villa were to die for - set in the mountains with a sea view it really was the best of both worlds - beautiful setting but only five minutes away from the shops and local villages.
Two of the bedrooms have there own private veranda and the main bedroom was a great size with our own en suite shower room. The kid's splept in the twin room while my mum and dad went in the double. Dad loved the garden with its palm trees and olive trees and mum though that the kitchen was bigger than her one at home ! It had everything you needed to do all your own catering . Some night, especially if we had a busy day, we would just do a BBQ although the area has a huge range of restaurants something for everyones taste.
It has its own private overflow swimming pool and at times we found it hard to drag ourselves away - the villa is beautifully furnished, very natural but contemporary with rattan and travetine - just how we like it. All in all we have come back totally relaxed after an enjoyable holiday - one to remember for a long time to come....

The Kyrenia District
KYRENIA: Kyrenia is situated on the north coast approximately a 10 minute drive from Villa Annabella, and has a 6,000 year long history. Kyrenia is the main port and major holiday resort in northern cyprus with one of the prettiest harbours in the Med. It is easy to explore its narrow cobbled alleys and chic pavement cafes and restaurants. Just a few minutes drive away is the fairytale castle of St.Hilarion said to have been the original inspiration for the Walt Disneys 'Sleeping Beauty' castle. THE KARPAS: The Karpas region is well known for its Byzantine churches, and boasts some of the finest beaches and countryside. The karpas peninsula (pan handle) is the easternmost part of the island where the land tapers into a thin strip which streaches out towards Turkey. This area is well worth a visit. FAMAGUSTA: This area is on the east coast a delightful old city completely surrounded by well-preserved Venetian ramparts. The ancient gothic St Nicholas Cathedral is worth a visit as is the covered market where you'll smell every spice you can imagine. Salamis is a little further up the coast with the remains of a Graeco-Roman city , complete with baths, meeting places and amphitheatre.

Bellapais area
Villa Annabella is located in lower Bellapais close to the village of Ozankoy. Central Bellapais holds one of the main attractions in the area the 'Bellapais Abbey'. Founded at the end of the 12 Century the villiage has narrow streets and local shops creating the feeling that you are still in old Cyprus. Laurence Durrells book 'Bitter Lemons' brought attention to the village life that is still obvious today. There is an old tree in the small square called the Tree of Idleness which has become the symbol of Bellapais village. The area is ideal for walks and local tours are held every Sunday between October and the end of April and twice a month between the summer months from May to the end of September. In most of the local villages are the coffee-houses or 'kahve' where you can see men sipping turkish coffee and playing the national game of back-gammon or 'tavla'.
How to get there
Option 1 - fly to Ercan airport in the north with a touch down in Turkey. Taxi transfer to the villa is 30 minutes.
Option 2 - fly direct to Larnaca airport in the south. Taxi transfer to the villa is 1Hr 20 minutes.

Further details indoors: All 3 bedrooms have air conditioning with full length wardrobes. Two of the bedrooms have a private balcony. The villa is centrally heated for the winter months. The luxury kitchen has all the amenties necessary for any self catering requirements. Marble flooring covers the downstairs areas throughout with complementary ceramic tiles to the bathroom and bedroom areas. Downstairs has a large wc. The lounge area has a through aspect with a front veranda and back patio.
Further details outdoors: The villa is set in a easy to maintain garden laid with gravel and various trees and hedging. The pool surround has sun loungers and parasols. There is a brick built seating area with outside shower . The large rear patio overlooks the pool and is idea for al fresco dining, with a front veranda for a more formal setting. The villa has its own private driveway with wrought iron entrance gates. We have made provisions for the rental cars to be parked at the front of the villa as at times they may leak oil. With any evolving home the villa is always being improved and you may find some extras that will only add to your enjoyment.

The swimming pool is cleaned twice a week in the summer and once a week in the winter months.
A comprehensive villa and area guide is left at the house with useful tips.
It provides a map and direction to the nearest supermarket as this is often the first place to visit (LEMAR). Although not the most historic landmark of northern cyprus nevertheless an essentil one.........
Conditions
Booking: A 20% Deposit is required on booking. The balance is payable 8 weeks prior to the departure date.
Bond: A bond is held for £100 to cover any breakages or repairs. This is refunded ( if not needed) within 1 week of your return.
The villa is cleaned and made ready for your arrival with a complimentary welcome hamper to get you started.
Any cleaning/laundery services required throughout your stay can be catered for - please enquire at time of booking. These additional services would be charged accordingly.
The villa is non-smoking and no pets.
