Home description

Ensconced amongst olive groves and high up on the hills within striking distance of the charming village of Bellapais, the Mandarin is a luxuriously appointed, newly built villa. The villa features bright, airy spacious rooms set out on two levels. The villa comes with a very large private swimming pool (20ft by 45ft), which is highly enjoyable during those lovely hot summer months.

The Kyrenia District

KYRENIA: Kyrenia is situated on the north coast approximately a 10 minute drive from Villa Mandarin, and has a 6,000 year long history. Kyrenia is the main port and major holiday resort in northern cyprus with one of the prettiest harbours in the Med. It is easy to explore its narrow cobbled alleys and chic pavement cafes and restaurants. Just a few minutes drive away is the fairytale castle of St.Hilarion said to have been the original inspiration for the Walt Disneys 'Sleeping Beauty' castle.
THE KARPAS: The Karpas region is well known for its Byzantine churches, and boasts some of the finest beaches and countryside. The karpas peninsula (pan handle) is the easternmost part of the island where the land tapers into a thin strip which streaches out towards Turkey. This area is well worth a visit.
FAMAGUSTA: This area is on the east coast a delightful old city completely surrounded by well-preserved Venetian ramparts. The ancient gothic St Nicholas Cathedral is worth a visit as is the covered market where you'll smell every spice you can imagine. Salamis is a little further up the coast with the remains of a Graeco-Roman city , complete with baths, meeting places and amphitheatre.
BEACHES: There are a number of beaches within driving distance, Dezi Kizi Club and Acapulco Beach Club are the closest.


Bellapais area

Villa Mandarin is located in lower Bellapais close to the village of Ozankoy. Central Bellapais holds one of the main attractions in the area the 'Bellapais Abbey'. Founded at the end of the 12 Century the villiage has narrow streets and local shops creating the feeling that you are still in old Cyprus. There is an old tree in the small square called the Tree of Idleness which has become the symbol of Bellapais village. The area is ideal for walks and local tours are held every Sunday between October and the end of April and twice a month between the summer months from May to the end of September. St. Andrews is a United Reform church situated in the centre of Kyrenia.


How to get there

Option 1 - fly to Ercan airport in the north with a touch down in Turkey. Taxi transfer to the villa is 30 minutes.
Option 2 - fly direct to Larnaca airport in the south. Taxi transfer to the villa is 1Hr 20 minutes. (£35 each way)

Car Hire - We have secured a competitive daily/weekly rate. Airport transfer costs £25 this is wavered if you hire a car (from Ercan). It is strongly recommended to use the transfer service as the villa is hard to find on the first visit.

Ground floor:

Leading off the entrance hallway there is the double length lounge/TV room with an 8-seater L-shaped sofa and direct access and views to the terrace, garden and pool beyond. Leading off the other side of the hall there is also an additional reception area with large stone feature fireplace interconnecting with the eat-in kitchen/diner. Complete with granite worktops, American style stainless steel double size fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, oven/hob, and separate utility room with washer/dryer.

Tucked away, leading off the rear of the hall there is the first double bedroom with walk through wardrobes, double beds and en-suite shower room appointed in limestone and marble with power shower facilities. There is a private terrace leading off this room. The first floor is connected to the ground floor via the graceful curvature of the feature carved marble staircase at the head of the hall.

First Floor:

The light drenched first floor landing connects three bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en-suite). The master suite features a capacious walk-in wardrobe, and en-suite with bath and power shower facilities. All three bedrooms feature cooling marble flooring and terraces with fantastic views. Each is supplied with king sized beds, reading lamps and floor to ceiling fitted wardrobes.

The bedding package for every bedroom comprises sumptuous goose down duvets with finest quality crisp white Egyptian cotton sheets.

Further details outdoors:
The ground floor accommodation is designed for alfresco living, opening onto a large veranda wrapping around the front of the house with double width, floor to ceiling French doors. The veranda provides stunning views of the garden, the pool and the tree topped hills rolling down to the sea far beyond.

To complete your stay the villa is equipped with TV and DVD player, sun lounges, patio furniture and a barbeque.

A deposit of 20% of the total rent charge is payable on booking. The balance is payable 8 weeks prior to departure. A £100 refundable bond against breakages and damage is payable with your balance. This will be returned to you one week after the end of your holiday.
