"La Petite Maison" self-catering holiday gite stands in the peaceful surroundings of the property of Les Hirondelles Chambres d'hotes and opens out onto the gardens and pool which is enclosed in its own sheltered garden. This well equipped 2-bedroom cottage offers spacious and comfortable family accommodation for 5 persons, with village shops and amenities just a stroll around the corner. Perfectly maintained for all year round letting.
Well located for sightseeing and family activities including kayak and canoeing for the family on the River Vienne, various water sports and beach at Lac St Pardoux, rambling or mountain biking in the Monts des Blond, golf at St Junien plus new 9-hole at only 10 kms, horse riding and plenty of local fishing with daily or weekly permits available from the local Bar Tabac. Only 45 minutes from Limoges city, famous for its porcelain and decorative enamel and the cobbled winding streets of the old city with the imposing Gothic architecture of St Etienne Cathedral. Easy access A20 Orleans Toulouse motorway and major routes.

The Limousin / Auvergne / Haute-Vienne region
From roman churches and Benedictine abbeys to animal parks and miniature villages, the Limousin is one of France’s most unspoiled yet welcoming destinations for family enjoyment. Enjoy the breathtaking landscapes,discover the hidden treasures of the Pays des Mont de Blond with mapped walking and mountain bike circuits.
Enter the depths of the forest by pedaling along an old steam train track. Cool yourself down by participating in water sports at Lac Pardoux or try your hand at canoeing or kayaking along the River Vienne. Only 45 minutes from Limoges - Cité d’arts”, internationally famous capital of porcelain and enamel and birth place of Renoir. Wander around the narrow streets, boutiques and gourmet restaurants, the gothic Saint-Etienne’s Cathedral, the Bishop's Palace and gardens, and lots more. On the way, you may wish to pause at the martyred village of Oradour-sur-Glane which was destroyed along with its inhabitants in 1944 by the German SS, its ruins still standing as a lasting memorial.
Within an hour's drive, you can discover the scientific world of France's main tourist attraction park, Futuroscope at Poitiers, filled with exciting rides, the world of movies, and all with an educational twist. .
Bellac / Mezieres-sur-Issoire area
Mézières-sur-Issoire lies on the border of the Limousin and Poitou-Charente regions just 10 minutes from from the Monts des Blond area where there are endless walking and mountain bike trails amongst breathtaking scenery of lakes and pine forests as well as new 9-hole Golf course at Mortemart. The village provides small shops, chemist and bank so there's no need to take the car out every day. Bikes for the family are now available at Les Hirondelles.
Bellac - just 12 kms to the east, founded during the late middle ages and surrounded by ramparts. Today you can still admire the XII century church of Notre-Dame and period architecture amongst the winding streets and banks of the River Vincou. Birth place of poet and playwright Jean Giraudoux, Bellac’s lively annual National Festival the first week of July is dedicated to theatre, dance and music, notably jazz.
Confolens - 20 kms to the west just across the border in the Charente. The River Vienne flows magnificently through this small medieval city. Lots to discover with guided tours at your disposal, or for the more energetic the velo-rail along the enchanting old steam engine track, museums, chateau, roman church. Confolens's famous international Festival of Dance and Music in August attracts a huge audience from near and far with more than a week's programme of stunning day and night time events. Ends with a magnificent carnival with artists from all over the world.

Fly Ryanair to Limoges from London Stansted, Luton, Bristol, Bournemouth, Liverpool. East Midlands, Edinburgh. Flybe to Limoges from Southampton, Manchester, Newcastle, Jersey and Guernsey, Edinburgh and Glasgow. By road approx 6.30 hrs from Calais. Budget price ferry service Dover to Boulogne. Eurostar London - Lille or Paris with TGV rail connection to Limoges or La Souterraine.

Further details indoors: Accommodation comprises ground floor dining room, fully equipped kitchen area with dishwasher, cooker and microwave; living room with stairs leading to 1st floor with views to gardens and swimming pool - 2 double bedrooms (one with twin beds with option of 3rd bed or baby cot) both with en suite shower rooms and double glazing. Wood burner stove for winter months. The small patio is perfect for evening barbecues. Rental rates inclusive of electricity, winter heating, linen and towels.
Further details outdoors: The swimming pool conforms to French security laws, is enclosed in its own secure garden and therefore ideal for families with young children. It is primarily for the use of guests renting the gite. Les Hirondelles chambres d'hotes guests may access the pool between the hours of 16.00 - 20.00.
