Home description
Originally built in the 1800’s as a stable this pleasant cottage has since been converted to offer accommodation for groups of up to four people.
All the accommodation is laid out over a single level and the living area has been designed in an open-plan style. It retains a lot of its original charm through features such as open roof trusses and a wood-burning stove. In addition to the stove there are convection heaters and night storage-heaters to ensure that you can get the best of what the region has to offer at any time of year. For hazy, summer evenings the rear garden has barbeque facilities.

The Northern England / Yorkshire / Northumberland region
Northumbria is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife. Covering 400 square miles, the Northumberland National Park is the least populated of England’s National Parks, much to the benefit of those visitors seeking peace and solitude. Thousands of paths and tracks weave their way through beautiful countryside, providing exhilarating fresh air and wide-open spaces for walkers and cyclists alike.
Stay a while, roam the countryside but don’t forget to explore further, because the area known as Northumbria offers much more than just the National Park. Northumbria encompasses County Durham, the Tees Valley and Tyne and Wear, as well as covering the North Pennines ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall, the City of Durham and the Heritage Coastline, boasting a selection of protected golden beaches and tiny fishing villages. Northumberland’s Heritage Coast has mile upon mile of sparkling beaches, rocky coves and picturesque fishing villages. Sweeping from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north, to Druridge Bay in the south, popular destinations along the coastline include the horseshoe-shaped sandy beach and dunes at Beadnell Bay, the bustling village of Seahouses, with boat trips from the picturesque harbour, and the kipper smokery and coastal path at Craster.
Adding to the area’s splendour is a chain of magnificent castles: Alnwick, home to the powerful Percy family and the setting for some of the Harry Potter films; spectacular, medieval Bamburgh, standing high on its rocky outcrop; the brooding ruins of Dunstanburgh and pretty Warkworth.
Belford area
Belford is an ancient village, having been in existence since before medieval times. The centre of the village is the market square with its cross dating back around 300 years. Today it is a quiet village which gives visitors easy access to the Northumberland Coast, the Cheviot Hills and the Scottish Borders. Belford itself has a variety of smaller interesting shops as well as the usual shops and facilities available in a large village.
During the month of August, a continental market takes place in the centre of the village and gives it a real carnival atmosphere. Overlooked by the magnificent 18th century Belford Hall and only a few minutes walk from the centre of the village is Belford Golf Club, a 9-hole golf course which features a driving range, motorised cart hire and excellent bar facilities.
