The Northern England / Northumberland region
Northumbria is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife. Covering 400 square miles, the Northumberland National Park is the least populated of England’s National Parks, much to the benefit of those visitors seeking peace and solitude. Thousands of paths and tracks weave their way through beautiful countryside, providing exhilarating fresh air and wide-open spaces for walkers and cyclists alike.
Stay a while, roam the countryside but don’t forget to explore further, because the area known as Northumbria offers much more than just the National Park. Northumbria encompasses County Durham, the Tees Valley and Tyne and Wear, as well as covering the North Pennines ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall, the City of Durham and the Heritage Coastline, boasting a selection of protected golden beaches and tiny fishing villages. Northumberland’s Heritage Coast has mile upon mile of sparkling beaches, rocky coves and picturesque fishing villages.
Sweeping from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north, to Druridge Bay in the south, popular destinations along the coastline include the horseshoe-shaped sandy beach and dunes at Beadnell Bay, the bustling village of Seahouses, with boat trips from the picturesque harbour, and the kipper smokery and coastal path at Craster. Adding to the area’s splendour is a chain of magnificent castles: Alnwick, home to the powerful Percy family and the setting for some of the Harry Potter films; spectacular, medieval Bamburgh, standing high on its rocky outcrop; the brooding ruins of Dunstanburgh and pretty Warkworth.
The Belford area
Belford is a lovely Northumbrian village midway between Berwick-upon-Tweed and the historic town of Alnwick. Belford is an old coaching village with an attractive square and a variety of restaurants and public houses. There are a couple of local stores and other shops sell local crafts and gifts to visitors. For keen golfers there is a nine-hole golf course, offering excellent facilities. Five miles away is Bamburgh with its dramatic castle and sandy beaches. Alnwick Castle, just 15 miles away, is famous for its gardens but more recently has found fame as being the location of “Hogwarts” in the Harry Potter films. There are numerous attractions to visit and many opportunities to pursue outdoor activities around this picturesque and unspoiled county. Belford is ideally placed for exploring this area.

Guestbook for 2807 - Budle View
This was by far the best holiday property we've ever stayed in, the house was beautiful. We particularly liked the fact that the garden was completely enclosed as we took our two dogs, it was great just being able to have the door open and know that they were safe to come and go as they pleased. This was the second time we have been to Northumberland at this time of year and both times the weather has been really good. We will certainly be visiting this property again.

,Budle View was ideally situated for both the beach and local historic towns.
The village of Belford had enough amenities so that you did not have to go to a bigger town.
