The Central Portugal region
Belém is Lisbon's historic district with the highest concentration of tourist attractions. The “must see” Jeronimos monastery and Torre de Belém are emblematic buildings from the Age of Maritime Discoveries, just a short distance walk form the apartment. Also, you can't miss The Carriage Museum (my favorite), with its marvelous collection of royal ancient cars. But there are many other museums nearby: the Archaeology Museum, the Museum of Popular Art, the Maritime Museum, the Belém Cultural Centre and the Electricity Museum, among others.
Belém is also the greener historic district of the city and only historic area where you can easily park for free, making it a popular destination for families at the weekend.
Staying in Belém is to benefit from the proximity of the Tagus river, huge lawns (excellent for a picnic) , a botanical garden, kids playgrounds, countless restaurants, cafes and several spots where you can practice sports (Soccer, Tai Chi, Cycling, Jogging, Sailing).
There are two bikes available for free in the appartment so that you explore the charming riverside area of Belém. Also, the Pastéis de Belém (you can't leave the city without trying one at least!), are a short distance walk, standing on a street where you can find a tour desk, a kiosk with foreign newspapers, crafts shops, a pharmacy and plenty restaurants of typical portuguese food and also international food.
Come enjoy portuguese mediterranean climate and gastronomy.
If you want to combine your stay in Lisbon with trips to the beaches of Estoril Coast or at the South Bank, Belém has the perfect location.
Take the boat at the dock of Belém and go to Costa da Caparica or take the train that connects Cais do Sodre (one of the main nightlife zones) to Cascais and 15 minutes later you will be at one of my favourites beaches and one of Lisbon surfers favorite spot: Carcavelos beach.

"a great holiday in a great city"
Lovely apartment in good location. Excellent wifi and TV. Great kitchen facilities - LOVED the coffee maker! Enjoyed having the bicycles too. Shower slightly erratic and bed a bit squeaky but these were minor things. The apartment was great value for money and the owner was fantastically helpful and kind.
Thank you so much. I am happy to know that you had a good time. I am completely in love with my city and I really appreciate sharing with my guests the best of Lisbon. It was a pleasure to meet you.
