Costa Brava-the WILD COAST-the jewel in the Catalan Coast.Catalonia has its own identity and culture. Proud of its artistic heritage, the area was home to artists like Miró and Gaudi. The Catalan countryside is rugged and rocky, with masia farmhouses across the region. Barcelona itself is a feast of culture and architecture, from the mellow atmosphere of Las Ramblas to the modernised waterfront and the spectacular unfinished Cathedral.
Begur area
Begur is a pretty medieval village with cobbled streets and whitewashed houses draping the hillside below the ruins of a stone castle. Catalan bars and restaurants specialising in seafood surround the central pedestrianised square .Service is friendly and children are welcome and cherished by the Catalans. Locally produced wines compliment the fare.The vineyards producing these wines will welcome you to wine tasting . There are excellent supermarkets and specialist fishmonger and butcher shops. Freshly baked bread is available in many shops. No sign of high rise here!! Sandy bays and small coves with beach side bars and restaurants abound such as Pals, Llafranc and Aiguablava. La Bisbal-the home of ceramic goods-is 15 mins away and is a must for pottery lovers. Girona is a beautiful city and is 45 mins by car.It will satisfy the culture-vulture and shopaholic alike. Barcelona is an easy one hour drive-this vibrant city needs no introduction! Francophiles--French border 1 hour. Good local shopping in Begur,La Bisbal, Playa de Pals and Palafrugell. Largest wine warehouse in Spain -a local landmark called Grau -in Palafrugell-an experience! Lots of local markets to be visited;both for food and local crafts-the best are in Palafrugell,La Bisbal ,Pals and Begur. This area is renouned for diving and snorkelling-diving schools are located in Fornells,Aguafreda and Begur. Motor boats can also be hired locally on a daily basis. Horse riding,tennis,windsurfing all available closeby. For the smaller ones,face painting ,puppet shows and other activities take place regularly in the local park in Begur which is just around the corner from the villa!

Girona airport is an easy 45 minute drive away. Ryanair operate numerous daily flights from Stansted airport and also from most major UK airports. They also operate flights to Girona from several other European airports.Thompson flights and Avro also operate flights frm the UK to Girona. Several car hire companies operate from Girona including Hertz, Avis and Goldcar.The aforementioned companies are bookable on-line. Perpignan airport is just over the French border and is approx 1.5 hours by car.Ryanair again serve this airport from major UK and European airports. Barcelona airport is approx 1.5 hours drive.EasyJet serve this airport as do most major European carriers. Calais is a 12 hour drive.Easy driving access from France and other areas of Spain via the AP7 ,the main motorway linking France and Spain.

All 5 bedrooms are generous in size and comfort-the master bedroom is en suite with dressing room and outside terrace. A second double en suite bedroom has sliding doors to a large sunny terrace accessing the pool/garden area.A large family bedroom has bunkbeds-the children love it!

Further details outdoors: The villa has a large well maintained planted garden with lemon and olive trees. Private pool 8x4m with tiled surround. 10 sunloungers are provided-ideal for sunbathing followed by a leisurely dip! The pool can be lit at night to enhance the holiday ambiance. Nearby is the BBQ area with wooden patio table and chairs. The terrace off bedroom 2 is large and ideal for catching the morning sunshine. The upper raised terrace off the living area has an extendable glass top table and seating for 10.The best seats in the house-enjoy the view! A 5min drive from the villa is the sheltered sandy beach at Sa Riera.Clifftop walks with breathtaking views will work up an appetite for the seafood available in the beachside restaurants. A safe family beach. Small coves and sandy bays abound in this area such as Sa Tuna, Fornells and Aiguablava. All within 10-15min drive. Huge sandy beach at Playa De Pals-you can walk for miles!Good windsurfing here too. Scuba diving and snorkeling are excellent!

Lovely holiday in a great house. There were 10 of us and we all felt comfortable and had plenty of space. Begur is a great town and the choice of good food restaurants is amazing. The views were breathtaking. Excellent for the children who would not leave the pool although managed to bring them to some of the nearby beautiful beaches! Great holiday!!
