About the home

First and foremost this is our family home! It is not some bland unloved holiday let and if you holiday here, we hope you will enjoy it as our family does.

The villa it set half way up the hill on the northern side of Aigua Blava bay. The quiet bay is breathtakingly beautiful and has some of the best views to be found in the north of Spain. The villa also looks across to the densely wooded hills south of the bay providing a blanket of colour down to the waters edge.

Come here if you want to relax by the pool or beach in the sun with friends & family, play a round or two of golf or enjoy some scuba diving. Its a quiet spot so best look elsewhere if you want very lively bars. We have babies and young children in our imediate family so the villa is suitable to both. Adult supervision is needed as we have a gated swimming pool (complete with Dolphin on the bottom tiles which they love!)

The 4 large air conditioned en-suite bedrooms have two single beds per room that zip together to form Queen Size beds. All bedrooms have sea views and two have outside balconies. Two further single beds are supplied to be used in the living room if desired.

The villa is set over separate levels. 'Toddlers' gates are provided at the top of the staircase and gates are provided on the path to the swimming pool.
Local supermarket 15 minutes walk away selling fresh bread & pattisseries etc as well as full supermarket offer.

Conditions

A well-behaved pet is allowed provided you clean up after it. This is our home remember!
Strictly no smoking.
€500 EURO security deposit payable prior to arrival.
50% rental fee due at time of booking (non refundable) with balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival.

The Costa Brava/Catalonia region

The rocky cliff coastline and sandy beaches are a signature of this part of the Costa Brava. The temperature is usually warm and sunny from end May to early September, cooled by the sea breeze soming down from the North.

The nearby hotel Aigua Blava has a fabulous restaurant and is very child friendly. We have a list of local restaurants to give you - all good value.

Nearby guests will find miles of rolling hills and coastal walks to explore, small bays to relax in, old roman villages, some of the best golf courses in Europe, clean beaches and outstanding Catalan restaurants set inside ancient Masias (farmhouses).

Fornells beach in Aigua Blava bay is the nearest beach to the villa just 3 minutes by car away & those of Tamariu, Sa Tuna, Lla Franc or Sa Riera are all nearby. Cultural day trips could include Figueres for the Salvador Dali Museum (www.salvador-dali.org) , Girona or of course Barcelona itself.

The Begur / Aigua Blava area

GOLF
This part of the Costa Brava is home to numerous excellent golf courses ranging from PGA championship courses to the more relaxed - these include Peralada, Torremirona, Girona, PGA Catalunya, Emporda & Serres de Pals.

SCUBA Diving:
This corner of Spain has developed a great reputation for SCUBA diving – focused around but not limited to the Medes Islands – a protected Marine Reserve since 1983 with spectacular caverns; red, yellow and purple sea fans as well as a thriving fish population including groupers, huge shoals of sardines & anchovies which attract pelagic predators such as jack, bass, bonito barracuda and a variety of bream.

WINE
Catalonia produces world class wines ranging from clean crisp white wines and Cava from the D.O. Penedès region and the powerful fragrant red wines from the D.O. Priorat, Tarragona

WALKING
Throughout the Costa Brava and the foothills, you’re spoilt for choice in the number and type of walks you can try. A network of signposted trails following a clearly defined footpath crisscrosses the region. There is a fantastic coastal walk split into three categories according to their length, the routes are colour-coded: parallel horizontal yellow and white lines for short local paths; green and white lines for medium-distance paths: and red and white lines for the very long trails.

CYCLING
Great local and longer distance routes. Hire is available from many local companies including www.pedaling.es who also organise CANOEING, HORSE RIDING & HOT AIR BALLOONING


SKYDIVING!!!
Empuriabava, approx 1 hour from Villa Spero Meliora is arguably the best, and certainly the busiest skydiving centre in Europe. Aircraft and facilities are world class and they offer courses ranging from Tandem jumps for a one off experiences through to intermediate and advanced freefly camps. www.skydiveempuriabrava.com

Begur has excellent road links to Girona Barcelona which is served by low cost airlines and is approximately 1 hour drive away. Perpignan is another low cost airline option and is approx 1.5 hours drive away.

Barcelona Airport is 1.5 hrs away and is obviously served by most major airlines. It is now Motorway & Dual carriageway all the way from the airport to Begur so this is our preferred route.

In our experience the best overall deal for car hire is usually through www.holidayautos.co.uk

Driving time from Calais approx 12 hours. We will provide detailed directions on how to find the villa before your departure. The villa is set on the northern hill overlooking Fornells bay, Aigua Blava.
