"Cottage not to be recommended"

Excellent location. Website said “recently refurbished”, couldn't see where it had been refurbished and does need doing. Downstairs smelt damp, OK it is an old cottage. Worst part of our holiday was being locked-in. The outer front door (there are two) would not unlock from the inside, which meant climbing out of the window to open it from the outside – not a pleasant experience. Complained to Jean Bartlett Cottages office on Monday 23rd July but nothing was done before we left on the following Saturday. We wrote to them on 1st August and have not had the courtesy of a reply.

We do apologise to the writer. We have checked our correspondence and do not recall receiving any letter/email, hence being unable to reply. Our maintenance man did look at the lock and found it to be temperamental. A new lock was ordered and has since been replaced. We find that when the cottage is occupied, most holiday makers leave that door unlocked.

"Last minute holiday"

We booked our week away at the last minute and it was just what the family needed. There is lots to do in the area for all ages the town its self had good shops and plenty of places to eat and drink.
One thing I would say is you need to buy a parking permit it cost me £20 for the week but you can use it all over east Devon. We used it shopping and also then we visited other towns on market days etc it saved me a good amount of money and time.
The Cottage was very well presented it had enough space for all of us. The garden was up some stairs but was a sun trap and we spent a lot of time in the evening up there reading etc
I hope everybody that uses this company and the cottages has a great time we did
