Casa Air is an elegant modern villa in Bedar village.
For those new to Bedar the words 'pretty' 'green' 'safe' and 'peaceful' will instantly spring to mind. This is exactly what Giles thought when he first visited Bedar 10 years ago and came home with a villa! The luxurious countryside and the traditional winding streets with their hidden views just add to the delightfulness of Bedar. The scent of jasmin as you stroll to the bar in the evening reminds you are on holiday.
Once you have arrived you will feel little need to get into your car until the day you leave. The village has a general store, bakery and fish shop, Doctors surgery, chemist, post office are all within the village.
The property boasts a superb mountain location with stunning views over the Cabrera mountains and down to the coastline.
Positioned on the edge of the village this property benefits from a peaceful and tranquil setting and yet is only a 5 minute stroll into the village to the bars and restaurants. Bedar has 2 lovely restaurants and 3 bars that serve fabulous tapas.
The roof terrace is large and can be used for private sunbathing and even dining if you wish to admire both mountain and sea views. It is also ideal for drying your washing in a remarkably short time!

The living area is open plan and very spacious. Ample seating in both the living and dining areas. There is a 32" TV with dvd player and Freeview box. There are plenty of books for those who simply wish to relax by the pool whilst taking in the outstanding views.
The kitchen overlooks the pool and mountains and has pretty much everything you would need for a self catering holiday. Please note that there is a plancha for outdoor cooking. This is the same as an electric bbq flat plate and does a great job! It also means that you do not need to replace the gas canister!
2 sets of double doors open out onto a tiled terrace which is shaded and cool. There is a table set to one side to place the plancha on. This terrace further extends into a stone terrace with a wooden table and chairs seating 6 with a large parasol for shade. This area is surrounded by beautiful plants and yukka trees. This provides privacy although it must be pointed out that all 6 of the villas are holiday homes and not always occupied which means generally the gardens and pool are quiet.
The property is surrounded by tall oleander bushes and accessed by large attractive iron gates through a decorative archway.
Ample parking is at the front of the villas.
For those who have children to entertain there is a football and basketball pitch close by and a sanded play area with swings and slides for younger children.

The Andalucia region
Bedar is in Almeria Provence. This area is the only official desert region in Europe so you should get plenty of sun and little rain. This desert region was used for filming in many of the spaghetti westerns. Indeed the arial scenes for Raiders of the Lost Ark were shot over Bedar!
The area was first developed by the Moors in earlier centuries, they farmed the land and put in the fantastic irrigation systems that are still in use today. Evidence of their expertise can still be seen in the terraced fields in the mountains around Bedar. These fields are still producing olives and almonds.
it's well worth exploring the countryside of Almeria rather than just heading for the beach. but of course the beaches are of high quality. Some of the best beaches can be found in the Cabo de Gata national park. They are completely unspoilt and no development is allowed in the national park. Go and see the flamingoes that flock on the beaches of Cabo de Gata.
The area is well served by markets . You can find a market within a reasonable distance most days of the week. The one we would recommend is on Saturday at Vera. Get up early and buy some of the great fruit and veg. The olive and cheese stalls are highly recommended as well.
The region is great for a beach holiday but for those that want a bit more there is plenty of interest to be found in the countryside and the beautiful white washed villages.
In a nutshell Bedar is a picturesque mountain village with a quiet and calm atmosphere. The village retains many of the original cottages which line the narrow winding alleyways. The locals are very welcoming
Bedar is the perfect base to further explore this area of Spain. The Local mountains are a hive of beautiful hidden villages to be discovered and for those more adventurous the Alhambra Palace in Granada is only a 2 1/2 hour drive away.
Great walking locally around the mine route which is signposted via Serena. Interesting industrial archeology on this route.
Fantastic cycling for the intrepid mountain biker, Cycle hire available at the beach.
The beach is a 20 minute car ride. There are plenty of decent bars and restaurants to experience at the playa (beach)
Mojacar Pueblo (the famous hilltop town) is well worth a visit. It has many interesting little shops and again, guess what, bars.
A visit to Mini Hollywood is well worth it, This is where many of the spaghetti westerns were shot. They have a cowboy show where they relive the wild west. There is also a great zoo and swimming pools.Further afield Cartagena is a fascinating city with its Roman amphitheatre and thriving Naval port. Comfortably visited within a day from Bedar.
