Tack Room is set on the estate grounds of Patrick Brompton Hall in the pretty village of the same name. The apartment looks out onto the Hall, a beautiful Grade II listed Queen Anne House dating back to 1703, and the stable yard and beck beyond. Equidistant from the Yorkshire market towns of Bedale and Leyburn, the village itself is very pretty; old stone cottages very typical of the Yorkshire Dales, a babbling beck with wild trout, the local village pub The Green Tree…

Beyond the village the attractive town of Bedale is worth a visit. Stop for a coffee before making your way around the town's antique shops. In the opposite direction you'll find the charming market town of Leyburn. Leyburn is an archetypical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain. The nearby historic town of Richmond is similar in many ways, and has a lovely setting along the River Swale.

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of The Hayloft. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are just a few miles away and the gorgeous villages of West Burton and Askrigg are within easy driving distance, so lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about. If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. And there are plenty of options for cycling too in Tour De France country. If in doubt, ask the owners who have lived in the area all their lives.

"Lovely apartment, shame about location!"

Comfortable, clean, well equipped apartment - cannot fault it. Enjoyed the use of the tennis courts. Arrived spot on 3pm, unfortunately the owner was late meeting us when we wanted to get settled in a… More

Thank you for your review - although we are not quite sure how genuine this review is as we can't find the name you used on your trip advisor, on our booking records for July. we didn't press the 'confirm this guest stayed with you' button when asked by Tripadvisor, for this very reason, so we are bemused as to how this review has appeared at all.
We are so glad the cottage was 'comfortable, clean, well equipped - cannot fault it'. Thank you. We provide what is within our control, which is the accommodation and comfort. cleanliness and good equipment is our primary aim. If guests provide us with an arrival time (we request this on our 'welcome email') we fulfil this obligation.
If you booked via Sykes Cottages customers in July in this cottage, you will have read the description which did NOT say there were footpaths from the door of the cottage so I can quite understand your 'expectations' could not be met. I can only find their description saying 'There are many lovely walks for all abilities in this beautiful area, as well as delightful villages to explore." and another reference to walking ' There are many walking routes and cycle trails in the Yorkshire Dales National Park' and we are NOT in the Dales National Park - but a short drive away! This area is rural and that is why people choose it, and a car is necessary in any rural area to access some facilities. I'm glad the part of your holiday that we could have control over, (the accommodation), was faultless.
