We wanted to give you the cosy comfortable hideaway you are seeking for a Yorkshire Dales holiday cottage holiday where you can relax after a day out in the Yorkshire Dales and Wensleydale. We have been careful to allow you to see the tv from your king-size bed, and have given you underfloor heating in your bathroom. With a woodburning stove, to cuddle up in front of on the large sofa we think it is probably the cosiest and nicest romantic retreat apartment cottage in the Yorkshire Dales.

Dalesend Cottages holiday cottage apartments (also see our other properties listed here Hayloft, Head Lad and Grooms Rooms ) near Bedale are located on the first floor of an historic stable block. Tack Room at Dalesend Cottages has use of a decked seating and BBQ area , set out over the beck that flows through the estate from high up in the Wensleydale. This is shared with our 3 other cottages here at Dalesend Cottages, called Hayloft, Groom's Rooms and Head Lad, We also allow guests to book and use our hard tennis court by arrangement during the summer months. Dalesend Cottages self-catering cottages are in an area full of visitor attractions and good eateries.

There is one pub, The Green Tree, in the village. (opening times can vary please check on arrival )Visit the market towns of Bedale where you will find good gift and interiors shops and lots of eateries and tea rooms. Leyburn, has craft workshops, a chocolate maker, shops and pubs. It is home to Tennants Auction House too. There are many walking routes and cycle trails in the surrounding Wensleydale area and the Yorkshire Dales National Park is a short drive away. Tack Room at Dalesend Cottages is set in the grounds of the Grade II** listed Patrick Brompton Hall down the drive of a private estate. Drive past horses and sheep grazing in the meadows, all of which provide peaceful and tranquil surroundings. We do not offer walking on the estate due to the working nature of the land, with grazing livestock etc but the whole area is a treasure of walks and some can be found on maps and guides that necessitate only a short drive to their beginning. Some local walks enable you to begin from your cottage but will involve some road walking. Guests should always bring their own walking guide books and resources although we do provide maps in the cottages.

We are dog-friendly - but not in Tack Room at Dalesend Cottages. If you wish to bring a dog with you we accept one small well-behaved dog in Head Lad at Dalesend Cottages.

"Fantastic"

We stayed at The Tack Room for Christmas and couldn't have wished for more! The apartment was beautiful! Tastefully decorated, open plan with high ceilings and if courts the romantic log burner! … More

Thank you for choosing us for Christmas and we are happy you had such a comfortable time and we appreciate your comments. We hope you will stay with us again and perhaps try Hayloft as it too is very romantic: Brutus (the 'now' puppy) is growing daily and will be ten times the size if you return! We are offering 3 and 4 night length stays in 2015 so a retreat sometime during the year is now possible for a few nights too.
Best wishes

"Lovely apartment, shame about location!"

Comfortable, clean, well equipped apartment - cannot fault it. Enjoyed the use of the tennis courts. Arrived spot on 3pm, unfortunately the owner was late meeting us when we wanted to get settled in a… More

Thank you for your review - although we are not quite sure how genuine this review is as we can't find the name you used on your trip advisor, on our booking records for July. we didn't press the 'confirm this guest stayed with you' button when asked by Tripadvisor, for this very reason, so we are bemused as to how this review has appeared at all.
We are so glad the cottage was 'comfortable, clean, well equipped - cannot fault it'. Thank you. We provide what is within our control, which is the accommodation and comfort. cleanliness and good equipment is our primary aim. If guests provide us with an arrival time (we request this on our 'welcome email') we fulfil this obligation.
If you booked via Sykes Cottages customers in July in this cottage, you will have read the description which did NOT say there were footpaths from the door of the cottage so I can quite understand your 'expectations' could not be met. I can only find their description saying 'There are many lovely walks for all abilities in this beautiful area, as well as delightful villages to explore." and another reference to walking ' There are many walking routes and cycle trails in the Yorkshire Dales National Park' and we are NOT in the Dales National Park - but a short drive away! This area is rural and that is why people choose it, and a car is necessary in any rural area to access some facilities. I'm glad the part of your holiday that we could have control over, (the accommodation), was faultless.
