The Gros Islet region
Gros Islet is St Lucia's Northern tip, punctuated by the "Golden Mile" of coastal beaches, resorts, and towns.
Rodney Bay contains the majority of this region's tourist trappings. The town here is the most popular resort area, with a deep-water yacht harbour and marnia complex, with bars and restaurants.
Gros Islet town, is a quiet fishing village, creole restaurants and Friday night street parties.
Pigeon Island , is one of St Lucia's national parks -- a historical place, once a heavily fortified British base in the eighteenth century, now transformed into an receation park with its own very beautiful beach.
The climate in Gros Islet is alway warm with a nice breeze, one of reason this area was selected for the National Cricket ground.

"Beautiful house, lovely neighbourhood and very helpful host"
I stayed in Anthony's house with a friend while working in St Lucia for 5 weeks. We were met at the airport by a taxi driver and taken to the house where the housekeeper was waiting to greet us. She gave us a tour, told us about how the house runs and all about the neighbourhood. She also called us a few times throughout our stay just to make sure we were ok. Anthony was very helpful before and during our stay, keeping in very good contact by email and phone, dealing with any problems we had quickly.
The house itself was such a surprise. The photos do not do it justice, and unfortunately none of ours did either. It was hugely spacious, especially the master bedroom which also had a large ensuite and balcony overlooking the hills. The kitchen was fully equipped (though very few glasses...) and the front terrace was a beautiful setting for meals. The only criticism would be that the lighting in the house was not very good (and so the photos did not turn out very well) but most of the time is spent outside anyway!
It was quite a long walk to the beach (40mins) but there are very regular buses if you would rather. The people in the neighbourhood were very friendly and we felt safe, even when walking back late in the evening.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend this to groups of friends or families who would prefer to be a part of a St Lucian village over staying in a resort, even if it is a little further from the beach and supermarkets.

"Very spacious, peaceful location"
My friends and I enjoyed our stay the location was nice and quite and we was glad there was a little market nearby. However, the walk from the house to the bus stop is like a 20 minute walk and if we were to walk to Rodney bay from the house in the heat it would take about 35-40 minutes. We was out most nights so we spent a fair bit on taxi services and bus fare especially going out twice a day. I would definitely look to stay their again but only if I was to have a rental for the time. The rooms are very clean and spacious, in regards to the fans and the outside breeze cooling us down but the living room was very hot and we couldnt really sit in that room for a long period of time.
Other than that the house was clean the water pressure was fine ( we've had problems in regards to the pressure of the water at other places) we was able to get good nights sleep because of the nice breeze and the Mosquitos wasn't a problem in the house unless we opened the front door for breeze which then they would get in. The rep was very helpful and was always on hand when we needed her.
I wouldn't definitely stay their again, my friends and I enjoyed our stay very much
