It is a spa town, famous for its Premier Cru wines and its 14th-century chateau. Great for cycling/ walking days out, meandering through the famous wine routes.
From the comfort of your garden, you can fish, picnic, walk or explore the canal, with your own house boat or if you prefer, sit back and relax in one of the shady garden areas (with your glass of Santenay) and watch the boats, joggers, cyclists and walkers, hard at work.

The house is on three floor. It has a fully equipped kitchen with dining area and log burner. The cosy sitting-room has double sliding doors leading to an outside eating area. On the first floor there are two bedrooms (one with double bed and one with twin beds) both rooms have en-suite showers and share a separate WC. A spiral staircase leads to a large open plan bedroom (twin beds) with en suite and separate WC. There is plenty of room for two additional (fold-up beds) should they be required. House can sleep 8 people.

The outside consists of an acre of cultivated land with private canal-side frontage and shady areas to sit. There are two separate terraces, one with a barbecue. There is an acre of woodland incorporating an historic lime-stone quarry. There is a house rowing boat to explore the canal.
Neighbours at hand, who not only look after the property, but are there to welcome you on your arrival and ensure you have an enjoyable holiday.
The Burgundy region
Côte-d'Or is so named from the golden colour of its vine covered hillsides, that so characterise the department. An idyllic place to spend a holiday. This is the region of fine gastronomy, and the restaurants of the Côte-d'Or offer all the possibilities you could wish for dining out. Côte-d'Or produces some of the most highly acclaimed wines in the world (Nuits St Georges, Beaune, Chambertin, Santenay) in the department's vineyards, and has an abundance of great wine houses, offering tours and tastings.
There are many medieval towns to visit, such as Beaune (18kms), with its famous 15th-century hospice and Dijon (40 kms) with its well preserved medieval centre. Nearer to home are Changy (4 kms) which has a fantastic Sunday market and Nolay (7 kms) with its covered 4th-century market place.
Santenay is a small spa town (1000 inhabitants) which, by quirk of french law has a casino. It is famous for its Premier Cru wines and its 14th-century chateau. It has two fine restaurants and basic amenities, including two bakers, a butcher, and a handy supermarket.
There is an open-air swimming pool, open July and August and horse-riding. Bikes can be hired from the tourist office, for cycling days out (or walking), meandering through the wine routes of the 'Grand Cru', from Santenay to Dijon or follow the tow path from Santenay to Chalon-sur-Saône.

The property is set in a very peaceful garden by a canal. It is a very quite and private location. We enjoyed the closeness to the town of Santenay and other surrounding attractions. The rides along the canal were particularly enjoyable. You can hire bikes at the tourist info centre in Santenay.
If you want something that is very French and private this Cottage is ideal.

"Super querky place to stay and play"
Three couples and three Morgans visited for a few days in a very cloudy May but what fun we had! Morgans didn't like the bumpy steep exit onto the road but loved the drives through the vineyards. Used the boat to ferry across the canal and row left to moor so visits to Santenay possible. Lovely restaurants, boulangerie, wine tasting (buying), little supermarket and tourist office at the station where you can hire bicycles.....what more can you want? House full of character with ropes to help you up the stairs. We all want to return in the sunshine when our boules don't sink in the mud and we can really enjoy the setting.

"A lovely holiday experience, with great facilities"
The garden has a very good outlook over the nearby canal, and watching the craft negotiate the waterways creates a serenity around the place. The house is very comfortable, and has a very rustic feel. The staircase is a challenge for some but is fine once you have become accustomed to it. Having satellite TV and wifi is a big bonus. There are plenty of places to visit and Beaune and Dijon afre well worth seeing. The market in Chagny on a Sunday is well worth the short drive. A car is necessary, and be aware of the challenge of the driveway to find and exit - again, fine once you become used to it. A perfect location for a relaxing break and a taste of this wonderful region.

"Charming canal-side house"
This is a lovely, comfortable house with light and airy bedrooms and is well-equipped and very clean. The location can't be bettered. The garden has beautiful views over the canal and it is delightful relaxing, watching the boats go by and waving to cyclists as they pedal down the tow path on the opposite bank. There are 2 tables with chairs outside so you have a choice for eating outside in the lovely grassy garden. There are loungers with plenty of comfortable cushions and there is nothing better than settling down with a book in the sunshine and whiling away the afternoon. As far the local restaurants, we were spoilt for choice! Nearby Chagny has a great market on Sunday morning. If you are feeling a bit more energetic then Beaune or Dijon aren't far away by car - or Autun with its Roman amphitheatre and medieval cathedral. We have been to this house several times - and keep coming back!

"Charming, beautiful house. Perfect."
A great house in a lovely location. The photos just don't do it justice. The house is quaint and charming. The outdoor space is amazing and the beds are very comfortable. A car is necessary but the walk to Santenay is short and pleasant. Great for visiting the vineyards! There are two great restaurants in the village and the boulangerie/ patisserie is lovely (but not open Wednesdays). This property is great for families or close friends- the showers are in the bedrooms so you need to be friendly! We spent a great week here, 8 adults and there was enough space. A great location for vineyards and climbing.
