About this location
The Provence region
We can provide detailed information of the region and surrounding area of Beaumes de venise upon request.
The village has its own municipal swimming pool which is open from June to September. It has two good sized pools a paddling pool for small kids. There is also a snack-bar which serves hot meals, sandwiches, salads and drinks.
The village has two tennis courts near the campsite.
There are some great walks nearby and from the village as well. You can walk through the Dentelles starting from the walking track from Lafare (see below); Or, a little closer, on the road to Vacqueyras, is the Notre Dame d'Aubune chapel. The bell tower is a beautiful example of 9th century Romanesque art, and its priority listed as a historical monument. You can walk from the house through the vines to the Church. You can also visit the prehistoric caves (or baumes) of Ambrosi and Rocalinaud, which gave the village its name. Built into the hill, long ago they were used as shelter by numerous families; Closer still, you can take a stroll through the village – the hosues and streets behind our house in particular (turning left out of our door) are pretty and have some great views once you are at the back of the village.
Cycling: You can pretty much get on your bike and go in any direction for a great ride. Our favourite is to head towards Suzette ; from there, you can either keep following the signs for Mauclene, La Roque A’lric or Le Barroux. Hilly but fantastic views and few cars. For keen cyclists, of course, there is the Mount Ventoux only 20kms away.
During winter, Mount Ventoux is also open for ski season (perfect for beginner level and/or families)
Market Day in Beaumes de Venise is every Tuesday.
