Enquire nowThe Scottish Highlands region
The Scottish Highlands offer such a splendid variety of landscapes ranging from fertile coastal fringes to wild and remote mountain ranges. This is the place to come if you want an activity packed break with the family or simply relax and absorb the peace and tranquility that the region can offer. The town of Beauly and surrounding area enjoys a good central Highland location offering easy access to the North, East and West coasts. This area offers plenty of Scottish strands to follow with a good range of historic sites and castles, as well as Europes best preserved 18th century fort at Fort George. The sport and activity choice is also wide ranging and includes both cruising on loch Ness (monsters, maybe) and also on the Moray firth(dolphins, almost definately).
Shopping for Scottish crafts, plus all the nightlife and the cultural programme of Scotlands most Northerly city are just a few of the other options.
The Beauly / Aigas area
Beauly is a planned village with a regular market square, one of the main features is a ruined priory founded in 1230 by the Valliscaulian monks. The village offers a great variety of specialist shops which includes the Highland tweed house and a variety of craft and antique shops with good places to eat and two small supermarkets are open from dawn till dusk. Aigas lies five miles to the West of Beauly at the foot of the wooded riverscapes of Strathglass (Gaelic: broad valley). A short drive further West of Aigas offers a choice of magnificent hill scenery to discover in the glens (Strathfarrar, Cannich and Affric) that branch off it. The spectacular Plodda and Dog falls are also close to Cannich.
As well as walking, this area offers good opportunities for angling, bird watching, pony trekking, mountain biking and golf. As well as our own golf course at Aigas there are another 25 courses within an hours drive including Castle stuart, Royal Dornoch and Nairn making Aigas a great base for golfers
