The Scottish Highlands region
This is a very attractive area with mountains and rivers. Mostly an agricultural area with some forests and much wildlife Red Deer and most notably RED KITES and buzzards DOLPHINS are a huge attraction at Channory Point and there is much historical interest. LOCH NESS is world famous of course and INVERNESS CITY capital of the Highlands. Beaches at Nairn and Fortrose .
Aviemore world renown SKI Resort and Cairngorms not far away.
A day trip to ORKNEY is possible from Scrabster to Stromness. SKYE and the Islands also a day trip.
The area has a fairly good mild climate in summer being on the Beauly Firth (Moray Firth Climate) and rather cold in winter but for the skiing enthusiast or climbers a perfect location as Ben Nevis or Cairngorm not far.
Beauly village is very attractive having a small square lined with cherry trees and twinkling lights and monument to the Frasers of Lovat and a world renowned ancient priory. In the past winners of Britain in Bloom. Autumn is lovely in this area with tree colour amazing. Even in winter the area is stunning.
In the village there's many cafes and restaurants to enjoy a coffee, hotels, and two co-op stores, a butchers, champion of the year bakers, post office etc. Inverness city is only 12 miles away. Great shops and a river running through. Eden Court Theatre and Cathedral and Inverness Castle. Ben Wyvis in the background.
Glen Affric is stunning and renowned for it's beauty. Loch Ness deepest loch in Britain and 26 miles long with its famous Nessie monster is only 7 miles away. Many castles to visit and towns like Dingwall and Nairn.
Dolphin watching at Fortrose is popular and the annual Black Isle agricultural show is huge and very popular at the beginning of August. Also the Tartan Heart Music Festival at Belladrum Estate around 4th August and the Moy Game Fare at Tomatin all around the same time in August.
Loch Ness is only 7 miles over the scenic hills to Drumnadrochit and the Nessie Centre (Nessie the Loch Ness Monster) down the Great Glen to Fort William and Oban (west Coast ) or Skye and Mull.
