The west wing is cool in summer and warm in winter and has been nicknamed by many of the locals as 'Tres Tranquil' because of it's peaceful location and lovely local views. This is partly due to the generous space both inside and outside the property and partly down to the extensive recent renovation. This does not stop with the fabric of the building, the beds are firm, the linen is fresh and the facilities modern and well maintained.

The accommodation comprises three large bedrooms, two doubles and a twin, all with plenty of hanging and storage space for clothes and other items. There are two additional beds (a small double and a single) on the mezzanine floor above the lounge, if required which may best be suited to small people as there is restricted head room in some parts. There is a large lounge with log burner and a separate spacious dining room and modern well equipped kitchen. The west wing may not be suitable for people with mobility difficulties or pets of any description, both are better catered for in the east wing. There is free WiFi access is available in the west wing and generally in a lot of the garden.

Outside the gardens are mostly laid to lawn with Walnut and Hazelnut trees along with Oak and other native trees. Wild Acacia is part of a 12+ Acre Estate, the setting is peaceful agricultural countryside, mostly meadows and woodland with acres of Sun flowers or other crops around, depending on the time of year. Wild Acacia offers a peaceful base for those who are looking for a quiet get away from it all, holiday. The local area is excellent for walking, cycling, canoeing and bird watching. There is private fishing available in a two acre lake or in the river close by at a small additional charge. There is a well kept all weather outdoor tennis court in the village and boules is usually played on Tuesday and Friday afternoons on the village square. You will need transport if you are to get the most from our beautiful Charente countryside and the surrounding areas, so come prepared.

It's quiet, away from traffic and your nearest neighbour, the owners cottage is about 100 metres away where there are three additional double En suite bedrooms which can be available on a B&B basis if required. It's about half a mile to the village of Beaulieu Sur Sonnette and ten minutes to a well stocked supermarket in nearby champagne Mouton. This is country life at its best and a place to relax, unwind and enjoy yourselves in a safe peaceful and private environment.

The Poitou-Charentes/Vendee region

Mostly Agricultural but with plenty to offer for Art, Music history and Architecture to name a few. There are markets during the day and sometimes at night and during the summer months it is not difficult to find towns and villages with free open air concerts or dancing in the streets with street vendors galore. There's plenty to do in this picturesque part of the world. and here are a few suggestions...

The taste and tours in Cognac and have fun on a Gaberre (Flat bottomed boat)

The beautiful village of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne with it's vaulted underground church

The hilltop town of Angoulême including the Classic Car race round the Ramparts each September

La Rochefoucauld château and restored mills.

The Lakes of the Charente

Wineries and wine tasting tours

Take to the water and canoe or hire a boat on the Charente, it's a beautiful river with lovely towns and countryside on route.

The nearest village is Beaulieu about a mile away; it is a quite sleepy sort of village set in the heart off the Charente. It has it's own friendly village shop open each morning and there is a supermarket open seven days a week in Champagne Mouton about ten minutes away. Nothing much seems to happens in Beaulieu, locals play boules on the village square on Tuesdays and Fridays but generally the village has a timeless air to it which may remind some of us of times gone by.

This is life in the slow lane, rustic, quiet and the place to ramble or cycle in a safe environment. There are excellent affordable restaurants and bars within a shortish car ride and lots of unspoiled countryside to lose yourself in on your doorstep if you want to.
