The West Country / Dorset region
The West Country boasts not only the most stunning beaches in the UK, but also a spectacular coast line. In the far east of the region in Dorset you will find The World Heritage " Jurrassic Coast ". A great desination for every one, families, walkers, cyclists and those seeking complete relaxation. In land there are dozens of beautiful villages and rural landscapes made famous by Thomas Hardy, and more recently West Dorset itself featured in Hugh Fearnley Whittingstalls River Cottage". So whether you are looking for rock pooling in Lyme Regis, fossil hunting in Charmouth, foodie shopping in Bridport or simply walking the coast path, Dorset is the ideal destination.
Beaminster area
Beaminster itself is in the heart of rural West Dorset, it is a beautiful small town clustered around The Square. The predominant stone is local hamstone giving the whole place a mellow glow. In the town itself there is a fine range of local stores with everything you need for self catering, ranging from excellent butchers, fruit and veg, deli and patisserie to a mini co-op. There are great pubs in the area for when you do not wish to cook, for instance The Bottle inn at Marshwood made famous for the Stinging Nettle Eating Championships in July. Beaminster itself has several good pubs and a smart Brasserie for a real treat. With the coast only 15 minutes away and endless hillforts and footpaths to explore your stay with us will fly by all too quickly.
