Albert Cottage - ( 2 bedroom, sleeps 5 + cots)

A beautiful Grade II listed building, dating back to the early 18th Century,

It is very well equipped and full of character with charming rustic features throughout.

Set in a conservation area, of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Albert Cottage is an ideal base for walkers, beach lovers and others who enjoy the charming attractions offered by Beaminster and the surrounding area and coastline in Dorset.

The cottage is located in a peaceful, picturesque and historical area just a few minutes stroll away from the centre of the town.

Off street private parking is available for 2 cars.

The front door leads into the hallway laid with flag stones. The living room has many rustic features including flag stone floor and beautiful period fireplace, (not in use). The room is bright and spacious with a cosy rug and comfortable seating for 5 and additional small table and chairs.

There is a large 42" flat screen TV, with Freesat . Also DVD player, internet, radio, iphone, ipad/ MP3 dock.

The hallway leads to the dining room which is laid to flag stones and has a table and 6 chairs.

The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with high quality equipment and appliances.

There is a gas cooker, gas hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, cafetiere, slow cooker, fridge and washing machine. Tumble dryer and Freezer in out-building.

Bedroom 1

King size bed and 3ft single. High quality mattresses.

(There is space to put a good mattress on the floor of bedroom 1 for a child if this is required giving the ability to sleep 6)

Very large dual aspect room with lovely views of the surrounding countryside and historic area.

Bespoke beautiful King size bed with high quality pocket sprung mattress, exposed wooden floor boards, wardrobe, chest of drawers.

32" flat screen TV with Freesat, DVD player, radio alarm clock.

Bedroom 2

Two 3' single beds with quality pocket sprung mattresses. Wardrobe with hanging space and shelving. Exposed wooden floor boards, pretty period fireplace (not in use). Flat screen TV with freesat and DVD player, radio alarm clock.

Family bathroom with power shower over bath, toilet and basin.

The kitchen door leads to the private fenced garden which is safe for children and dogs. There is a sun-trap patio area close to the house and a summer house. The garden has a good size lawn, flower borders and a second seating area at the far end of the garden. . From the garden there are lovely views over the surrounding countryside.

The cottage has central heating, is comfortably furnished and is very homely. We provide a range of guides and an OS map. There is also a selection of books, games DVD'S and toys.

There are many attractions for families with wonderful beaches nearby offering opportunities for fossil finding, fishing, crabbing, rock pooling (some of the best in the UK) swimming, walking and a host of attractions at places like Lyme Regis. Beaminster

Beaminster is a very historic town which lies in a Conservation Area , in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.It is reknowned, for it's beautiful buildings, and it's array of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes. There are over 200 listed buildings, and a beautiful historic church (St Mary's) which has one of the finest towers in Dorset.

It is the perfect location for a holiday; within easy reach of stunning countryside, it is a haven for people who love the beach, countryside, wildlife, authentic vibrant Dorset towns, formal gardens, great food, music, art and culture.

There is a wide range of shops Beaminster including a Co-op, and a range of good quality independent shops including a very popular bakery, Vieux Four patisserie ( delicious cakes and pastries), Angie's fruit and veg shop,( lovely fresh local produce) a delicatesant, and Nick Tetts the butcher .

There are several good cafes and restaurants, such as the luxurious Bridge House Hotel. The Red Lion and The Greyhound are both friendly, popular pubs.There are also numerous other little shops selling clothes, kitchenware, gifts and toys.

Beaminster Memorial Playing fields is a huge open space in a beautiful setting and has a childrens play area with play equipment. There are oportunities for all kinds of sports.

There is a public swimming pool, sports hall and gym at Beaminster Secondary School which are available for use in school holidays and weekends.

The Beaminster Festival of Music and Arts takes place for a week during the last week in July; enjoy the dancing in the Square, live music of all kinds, literary talks, open air theatre,and art exhibitions. A wonderful event for all the family.

Buckham Fair is also becoming a huge tourist attraction, taking place in August curated by Martin Clunes a popular Beaminster resident.

The schedule is packed full with many and varied events including numerous dog competitions, Police Dog Displays, Heavy Horse Displays, Vintage Cars and Scooters. There are fair ground rides, trade stands selling mainly local products and a varied and delicious Food Court.

There are several wonderful walks from the cottage and numerous other in the close vicinity. One of the most popular starts close to Albert Cottage, through fields and past the magnificent Jacobean Parnham House. The walk continues to the beautiful quaint village of Netherbury; famous for Hugh Fernly Whitingstall and the original 'River Cottage'. The walk then continues down the valley and through the woods to the picture post card village of Stoke Abbott where The New Inn pub has an excellent reputation for food. The last part of the walk takes you accross the hills above Stoke Abbott; breathtaking views towards Golden Cap, Pilsdon Pen and Lewesdon Hill; the highest point in Dorset.

This is just one of many wonderful walks in the vicinity.

Bridport is about 15 minutes drive; a charming vibrant Georgian town.

Everything you would expect from a town of it's size but Bridport is so special. It has a wonderful atmosphere with lots of independent shops and cafes, an arts centre and the quirky Electric Palace. There is also a regular farmers' market, a beer and food festival every year and also a September Hat festival; this is an experience to savour; an amazing atmosphere of fun and excentricity!

There is a fabulous street market on Wednesdays and Saturdays full of antiques and collectables. There is also another haven for antique enthusiasts in the alleys and studios of St Michael's Trading Estate on any day of the week.

Dorchester, the county town of Dorset sits on the banks of the River Frome. It is a bustling market town with over 400 shops and businesses including a new major development on the old Brewery site which includes a new cinema and a range of shops and restaurants to satisfy everyone's interest. Dorchester has its own speciality shops that attract people from all over the south west. There is an extensive weekly market on Wednesdays.

There is a choice of museums including the award winning County Museum with information about Thomas Hardy, the Jurassic Coast, the county's history and much more.

Other attractions in the area of interest to families and those with specialist knowledge, too numerous to list them all here, include the Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World, Abbotsbury Swannery, Durlston Country Park and the Swanage steam railway.

The nearest beach; West Bay is only 15 minutes away. A quaint bustling harbour with stunning cliffs; an example of the spectaculer Jurassic Coast line.

Lyme Regis is just a 30 minute drive away and provides something for everyone, one of the most popular coastal towns on the Jurassic coast..

The sandy beach is very popular for families with young children who can safely swim in the sea. There are opportunities for fossiling, crabbing, rock pooling, and fishing. There is a Dinosaur Museum, small Aquarium, and crazy golf.

There are numerous other pretty, historic villages near-by surrounded by stunning countryside.
