The Northern England / Northumberland region
Northumbria is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife. Covering 400 square miles, the Northumberland National Park is the least populated of England’s National Parks, much to the benefit of those visitors seeking peace and solitude. Thousands of paths and tracks weave their way through beautiful countryside, providing exhilarating fresh air and wide-open spaces for walkers and cyclists alike.
Stay a while, roam the countryside but don’t forget to explore further, because the area known as Northumbria offers much more than just the National Park. Northumbria encompasses County Durham, the Tees Valley and Tyne and Wear, as well as covering the North Pennines ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall, the City of Durham and the Heritage Coastline, boasting a selection of protected golden beaches and tiny fishing villages. Northumberland’s Heritage Coast has mile upon mile of sparkling beaches, rocky coves and picturesque fishing villages.
Sweeping from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north, to Druridge Bay in the south, popular destinations along the coastline include the horseshoe-shaped sandy beach and dunes at Beadnell Bay, the bustling village of Seahouses, with boat trips from the picturesque harbour, and the kipper smokery and coastal path at Craster. Adding to the area’s splendour is a chain of magnificent castles: Alnwick, home to the powerful Percy family and the setting for some of the Harry Potter films; spectacular, medieval Bamburgh, standing high on its rocky outcrop; the brooding ruins of Dunstanburgh and pretty Warkworth.
The Beadnell area
The peaceful and pretty harbour village of Beadnell is located next to Beadnell Bay, one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. Beadnell was established in Saxon times and was once a ‘smugglers haven’ and a major fishing village. Fishermen still launch from the harbor to land daily catches, but now holidaymakers also flock to the village to enjoy the picturesque harbor, the sandy beaches located nearby, and the two pubs which serve food. Seahouses is just over a mile away with its shops, supermarket, and restaurants, and this popular town also offers boat trips from the harbour to the stunning bird watching centre of the Farne Islands. Bamburgh and the market town of Alnwick, which offers a magnificent castle and gardens, pubs, restaurants and shops, are both within easy driving distance.

,We all really enjoyed the quite area of Beadnell. The house is very close to the beach, which was great for walking the dogs. The overall size of the property was brilliant with the 2 lounges. We would recommend this property and would rent again.
