About this location
The Northumberland region
Northumberland is a wonderful combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife. Ideal for walkers, cyclists and families wishing to relax.
The Moorings is an excellent choice for couples, families or groups of friends wishing to holiday together in Beadnell. Beadnell Bay offers water sports, sea fishing or a chance to walk along the golden beach. The Heritage Coast is right on the doorstep!
Peace and tranquility are always to be found on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne which can only be accessed at low tide by a causeway which links it to the mainland. Alnwick, a larger market town, is dominated by Alnwick Castle and Gardens is a lovely place to spend an afternoon . Berwick, the Scottish Borders and the Cheviot Hills are all within 30 minutes drive.
Beadnell has a small shop, two very good pubs with excellent food (The Beadnell Towers and The Craster Arms), a church and a well-equipped children's playground.
South of Beadnell is the huge sweep of Beadnell Bay with its golden sands stretching for over 2 miles. Wonderful for children and the young-at-heart. Part-way round the bay is the Long Nanny bird reserve with a large colony of nesting terns and plovers.
The nearest small town is Seahouses, about 2 miles away, a bustling seaside resort with a range of shops, restaurants and amusements. Boat trips run regularly from Seahouses harbour to the Farne Islands in the summer.
There are several golf courses nearby; the nearest at Seahouses is less than five minutes drive away whilst Bamburgh and Embleton are each about 15 or 20 minutes drive.Beadnell Harbour is an historic and beautiful west-facing harbour (the only one on the North East coast!) and has the National Trust-owned Beadnell Limekilns as a backdrop.

Hi, thank you for your your kind review and comments for The Moorings. It was really nice of you to personnally ring me to say how much you had enjoyed your stay.
I agree that another shower would be great. I have, in the past, looked at this option and the only way to add one is to make a shower room where the utility room is, but after much considersation keeping the utility room is a better option as it allows guests to take their dogs. I hope it did not delay your evening too much.
Thank you once again.

Thank you for your kind review. I am so pleased you had a great stay and the twins enjoyed the beach. Yes I do leave a welcome bottle of wine as I hope it adds a nice touch as I want the holiday to start off well! The decorator is already booked for January 2015 to update the downstairs. We have been so busy with bookings, it has been hard to fit decorating jobs in, but hopefully a new look for next year. Thank you again.
