Northern England region

The coastline of Northumberland is undoubtedly one of the finest in Britain. All along its entire length, there are miles of sandy beaches fringed by extensive sand dunes, high cliffs and rocky outcrops, secluded bays and small harbours which all combine to make this area an outstanding area of natural beauty. Positioned along this stunning coastline are the simply magnificent castles of Warkworth, Bamburgh, Holy Island and Dunstanburgh. Not far inland there is also Alnwick castle. Indeed Northumbria has more castles than any other part of Britain.

The entire coastal region is easily accessible on quiet, traffic free roads, which link at frequent intervals with the A1 trunk road. In addition to its stunning scenery and historic and religious heritage, the area has several fine golf courses, and numerous bird sanctuaries and nature reserves, most notably the Farne Islands. A warm welcome awaits the visitor with numerous tea rooms, restaurants and pubs in the area, many of which have menus including local seafood and other regional specialities.

Beadnell

Broadwood House is one of the popular collection of farm building conversions in the quiet hamlet of Tughall Steads, which is ideally placed between Newton by the Sea and Beadnell. This part of Northumberland offers much to holiday makers. Beadnell is renowned for its extensive range of quality water sports, including sea kayaking, wind surfing and scuba diving. The charm of Newton by the Sea is evident to all who visit, if you are lucky enough to view the beautiful sunset from here you will not forget it!! Seahouses is a further 2 miles north from Beadnell. From here there are regular trips to the Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony. There are many shops and tea rooms and of course fish and chip shops! Slightly further north again lies the beautiful village of Bamburgh and also Holy Island. A short drive inland brings you to Alnwick Castle, popular with many as one of the locations where Harry Potter was filmed. A visit to Alnwick Garden is a must, with the Cascade Waterfall and the largest tree house in Europe!!
