Northern England region
Beadnell is located on the North Northumberland coastline, about 3 miles south of Seahouses. It is well known for its sandy beaches, tranquility and superb scenery.
The historic village of Beadnell lies just a few miles east of the main A1 that links Edinburgh with Newcastle-upon-Tyne, but despite this, it remains off the beaten track and as a result has not been spoilt by over-development.
Situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline, this attractive and peaceful harbour village is a well-placed spot for anyone looking to enjoy a traditional seaside holiday. Once an important Saxon fishing village and later a haven for smugglers, Beadnell is somewhat more tranquil these days and is popular amongst holiday makers for its sandy beaches, village shop and pubs, which serve food.
If you time it right you can buy a lobster or some fresh fish direct from the fishing boats as they come into the harbour.
With another renowned village nearby – Seahouses – the range of local amenities increases to include a supermarket and various restaurants as well as boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands. These small outcrops are famed amongst bird watchers for their wealth of species. However, if you’re looking for a more urban environment Bamburgh is close by, as is the market town of Alnwick with Alnwick Castle and Gardens a must to visit (there is also a good swimming pool there).
You can use the cottage as a base to explore the stunning Northumberland coastline, Farne Islands, Alnwick and Cheviot Hills or you could just relax in the cottage and enjoy the village, the local amenities, the beach and the harbour.
Ideal for walking all year round with beaches either side of the village. There is information about visitor attactions in the property. Dunstanbrough and Bamburgh Castles nearby, Farne Islands accessed from Seahouses harbour 3 miles away. Alnwick (castle and gardens), Holy Island, Lindisfarne and other great places to visit are all within easy reach of the property.
A great walk from the house which takes about an hour is along the beach to Newton-by-the-Sea for a pub lunch and a drink in the ship!
