The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region

Medieval Manoir Caubeyran sits in the very centre of Aquitaine at the border of four departments: Gironde, Dordogne, Les Landes, and Lot-et-Garonne. It is located between the great southern French cities of Bordeaux and Toulouse.
Manoir Caubeyran is an ideal base for a relaxing and/or activity holiday, combining; walking; cycling; swimming; taking to the spa; touring the local towns, villages, and markets; visiting the vineyards; kayaking the many rivers; golfing, surfing, dining out in a large selection of nearby restaurants and auberges; or just simply doing nothing around the beautiful house and grounds. An eclectic library of over eight hundred books is maintained at the manoir for guests.
Located in the very centre of Aquitaine, Manoir Caubeyran sits in three hectares of its own grounds, including a fully fenced swimming pool and a water-garden. It quietly rests in the hamlet of Monclaritz central to the woods, fields, and vines, of the Lisos valley. It lies between the two wine villages of Cocumont and Grignols. It is ten minutes from the wonderful bastide-town of Bazas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; twenty minutes from the holiday spa-town of Castlejaloux; and under one hour from Bordeaux.

It is just south of the major waterways of the south of France; the Dordogne, the Lot, and the Garonne, all within one hour; and ten minutes south of the canal, (Rick Stein - French Odyssey).
It is perfectly positioned, to explore ‘Ancient Gascony’, present day Aquitaine, the wines and wonders of Bordeaux, and south-west France. It is two and a half hours from Lourdes and the Pyrenees, and three hours from Spain.

Guestbook for Stunning Medieval Farmhouse.
Hi Mark and Veronica,
I just wanted to drop you a mail to let you know we had a fantastic holiday and really enjoyed our stay in the Manoir. I cant believe its almost 2 weeks since we left!
The house worked out perfectly for us, and it was great to have so much communal space. Most of our time was spent poolside and we made great use of the terrace for bbq's in the evenings. One of the nights, we ate in the
Ferme Auberge aux Repas Fermiers Houn Barrade and had a lovely night. Food was very authentic as was the lovely lady who was cooking for us, she was also very very patient with our poor French! Another night we ate on the terrace in Les Ramparts in Bazas, and had the most amazing Bazas beef.
Thank you for all your help and recommendations during our stay. We really appreciated the lovely food that was there when we arrived, the daily fresh eggs and all the toys you left for James. If I know anyone looking for a
good family holiday in France in future, I'll send them to your website.
All the best, Grainne Sharkey.
Dear Mark and Veronica,
I am just writing to send a huge thank you for giving us the opportunity to stay in
your beautiful house last week. I can honestly vouch for everyone in that we had an
amazing week being so lucky with the weather and enjoying what the house and
surrounding countryside has to offer.
I can see how it is such a popular spot and perfect place for a restful place for
friends and family to enjoy. After a long summer of working, it was simply the
perfect spot to relax before going back to University. My favourite activity was
biking to the local village past all the beautiful countryside everyday to get the
next days supplies.
Thank you again and I look forward to getting in touch in the future!
Kind regards,
Lizzie Shannon
Hi Veronica.
We all hope you and the family are all well and have enjoyed a good end to the year. We think of you and the house often and of the happy time we spent there this summer.
I have a rather strange question regarding one of your cookery books which we enjoyed cooking from on a number of occasions. My sister would like to buy a copy of it as a Christmas present but we can't remember the title! I can tell you that it was French cooking, we think it was written in English and in particular we
remember recipes for pork with figs and a beef daube. If it is easy for you to check and to let us know, we would really appreciate it.
In the meantime, we hope that the end of term runs smoothly and that you enjoy a relaxing Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
I'm not sure we'll make it to France next summer as we will be staying in London, hoping to catch some of the Olympics action, but if we have plans to rent in France in the future, we will definitely give you a call.
Many thanks and best regards,
Suzanne & all the Riminis, the Dumonthiers and Granny Finch.
