We are a family of 2 parents and 2 teenagers. The cave house was a delight - comfortable, well-equipped and wood-burning stove for chilly nights. Most of the buildings in the village are cave houses and chimneys, doors and satellite dishes sprout from the hillside. The village has a couple of bars, a good butchers, a small supermarket and another small village shop very near by. Restaurants are a short drive away, but mainly we cooked at home. The cave house lies at the foot of the castle ruins which provides great views over the village and amazing surrounding countryside. Great walks, in stunning countryside, especially around megalithic tombs overlooking spectacular gorge at nearby Gorafe. Easy drive up from Almeria - about an hour and a half. The owners, Violet and Roger, are friendly and helpful and have provided a helpful folder of info and activities. Great place and very unusual - we will certainly go again. Response: Thank you for your kind words about your stay in our cave house over Christmas. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and that you plan to return. Thats what we like to here. Yes there is plenty to see and do here and hopefully when you return we will find more for you to discover and explore. Thanks once again. |

We booked the cave last minute with the intention of having a quiet relaxing break. The accommodation fitted the bill perfectly. The kitchen was well equipped and enabled us to cook regularly. The rooms were comfortable and during a couple of cold nights the wood burner was a real bonus. Violet was very helpful and provided clear instructions to meet, collect the keys and take us to the cave. Good service. The location of the property does require a car to visit the local attractions but even without driving the shops in the village provide 90% of what you need (the bakery does great bread). Overall I would recommend visiting if you want a quiet place to stay in a Spanish village and away from the usual 'Costa' holiday. Response: Thank you both for your wonderful comments. We love it when people say they enjoyed staying in our cave and in our village. It makes it all worthwhile. Hope to see you both again one day. |

What a welcoming and delightful place to choose for a holiday. The owners welcomed us warmly and left us a welcome pack of food/wine making it very easy to settle in quickly to the relaxed pace of life in the village. We really appreciated the coolness of the cave especially as the temperatures outside were 40+ C. We appreciated the information folder detailing all the local places of interest in the area. It is just a pity that it was too hot for us to do some of the walks available in the area. We would particularly recommend the dolmens burial chambers at Gorafe as something different to see. |
