The North Island region
The region is blessed with a mild climate year-round, which enables produce such as kiwifruit and citrus to prosper. Its vast harbour, islands and proximity to the open sea ensure that sea food is a local speciality. The legindary beaches attract swimmers, surfers, kayakers and kitesurfers throughout the year. The Bay of Plenty offers a great base for those exploring the central North Island, with easy road access to the Coromandel Peninsular, Rotorua and the snowy peaks and deep lakes of the Taupo region.
Bay of Plenty / Welcome Bay, Tauranga area
The city of Tauranga is the main centre of the Bay of Plenty region and is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. McLaren Falls Park is located along State Highway 29, approximately 15minutes from central Tauranga. The park has a beutiful waterfall that's the starting point for kayaking and white water rafting on the Wairoa River. Lake McLaren offers year-round fishing and the park offers great views and walking tracks through native bush. Down town Tauranga has several historically significant areas to view during a scenic walk around the area. The Strand water front area includes a childerns play area with water feature, seating areas and cultural art work. The Strand is home to a number of cafes, restaurants and pubs and has a vibrant night life.

Adventure seekers can choose from a myraid of adrenalin-pumping activites. From skydiving and white-water rafting to swimming with dolphins and four wheel-drive safaries, the region has plenty to keep your pulse racing. For the more laid-back traveller, relax on a beach, sail the harbour, enjoy a garden tour or get back to nature with unlimited and unspoilt nature walks which cover coastal areas, estuaries, wetlands, waterfalls and island reserves. There is also a multitude of attractions from heritage buildings to historical battle sites and museums. Visitors to the region can feel the spirit of the pioneering past by visiting old Maori pa, some of which were sites of land war battles. The choice will enchant you.
How to get there
Fly here - Long haul flight to Auckland International Airport. Then an optional domestic Air New Zealand flight to Tauranga airport, flight time 40 minutes. We can arrange our rep. to meet you at Tauranga airport or at the waters edge on the front lawn of the property.
Drive here - Hire a car from a range of rental companies at arrivals (cars can also be pre-booked through your travel agent). Distance from Auckland 205 km, duration 2hours 55 minutes approx, route via State Highway 2.
Bus here -The region is serviced by a number of coach companies operating throughout the country. Tauranga city centre is the main pick-up location for coaches to locations within or outside the region. In addition other companies offer door-to-door shuttle services.

Further details indoors: This water front retreat has all the facilities that you could need to make your stay as comfortable as possible including a fully fitted kitchen, laundry facilities with a large open plan living area opening onto deck. Linen and towels will be changed once a week. This property sleeps 6 guests comfortably, however, in addition to the furniture listed above we have included 2 no. fold-out sprung beds to allow an extra 2 guests to be situated within the lounge area.
Further details outdoors: Private full length deck over looking the romantic & relaxing views of the bay with shaded spa pool, allowing use throughout the year. BBQ facilities and outside table and chairs. Launch a small boat from the front lawn or use the kayak.

We all had such a wonderful time at your holiday home - Jill was very helpful and welcoming and it was lovely to be greeted with flowers and champagne, everything beautifully clean with comfortable beds and lovely linen and it was so good to have a decent laundry! We relaxed, sailed out in the dinghy and kayak, the kids waded and fell over in the sand, we played games on the lawn and soaked in the spa. Even when we had a couple of bad weather days it was very easy to occupy ourselves. It's such a comfortable, spacious and easy house to live in and when there were all 8 of us we never felt overcrowded.
We would certainly hope to return and will definitely be telling friends about your lovely home. Thank you very much.
