The Sardinia region
The traveler who wants to know the island, from the first impact with the Sardinian land must understand that the journey of discovery is a "journey of environment" is understood primarily as a continuous vision of pristine natural environments: deserted beaches and immense, wild islands, woodland and scrub the eye, meadows bordered by stone walls, houses rare farm animals in the pasture, rolling hills whose height reach an average of 700 meters, but which are often steep and rugged mountains as true, in Moreover, almost everywhere, the bare rock surfaces determines the character of the landscape, in the vast expanses of the solo campaign. In Sardinia, more people live to be 100 years or more than in any other part of the world. And as a scientific study has shown, this longevity is not due to the genetic heritage of Sardinia, but the laid-back lifestyle and healthy island. But in no way Sardinians live as monks. In fact, Sardinia is a paradise for those who love good food, including fragrant bread fresh from the oven, delicious meat grilled over an open sky, spectacular fresh seafood, countless varieties of Sardinian Pecorino cheese, not to mention fresh fruits and vegetables directly from the manufacturer, of course, full-bodied wines. Sardinian cuisine is famous for its use of fresh, seasonal ingredients from the Mediterranean region. And what could be better than enjoying a glass of red wine in Sardinia, while you wait for your pasta, pork or lobster and choose the words you understand the background of nearby conversations. Are also memorable visits to Sardinia Cantina Sociale where they produce local wines, including Grappa.
Ogliastra, with the beauty of its coasts and its mountainous interior, it is a very recent discovery among the tourist destinations of Sardinia. Its territory enclosed between the sea and the mountain offers an endless amount of a unique of its kind scenarios.
A paradise of remarkable beauty situated along the eastern side of Sardinia, where nature offers it's best. The origin of its name apparently derives from the wild olive trees which abound in the territory, although others attribute the origin of the huge monolith overlooking the sea on the coast of Baunei called Agugliastra (or Pedra Longa).
The Ogliastra coasts are splendid oases set between sea and rock, and form one of the most beautiful marine environments of the Mediterranean. Starting from the north meet the coves accessible only by sea or walking through the trails. Among the most beautiful and famous beaches of Ogliastra: camping Cala Luna, Cala Sisine, and Cala Mariolu Goloritzé; most southern beaches are very interesting like Tancau, Beach Sunflower , Orrì, Cea, Marina di Barisardo and Cardedu, Coccorrocci and the Gulf of Sarrala.
The other charm is nature, a still unspoiled nature which varies gradually, climbs up to the hills to get to the mountains of Gennargentu, indulging the eyes with a varieties of landscapes of rare beauty. A land that requires a careful, curious, penetrating gaze that does not match the conventional tourist. From the standpoint of historical archeology, the whole country is worthy of attention, given the presence of many Nuraghi, Domus de Janas, holy sources, Menhir and Tombs of the Giants.
You can go hiking trails walking, by bicycle, on horseback, by car and by jeep in order to discover places that you won't forget easily. If you want to navigate through the many coves, a plenty offer for guided tours or for renting boats will allow you to discover the beautiful coast of Ogliastra.
You can not say that you have really visited our island if you do not spend at least a few days in Ogliastra.

"Beautifull house with a breathe taking view of Baunei and surroundings."
We stayed for one week in this beautifull house. Well functioning for a family with teenagers.
The owner Enrico, is very helpfull, and responces very quick to all your questions.
It is a stone house on the hillside, Baunei is a small village, but you can easily shop what you need for daily living. On the mail road there is a bar, where they offer free WI_FI, so we enjoyed our evening coffee here.
We drove to the beach, a 10-15 min's drive to a good and well equipped beach.
Good possibilities for hiking tours, maps are in the house.
A very reasionable price for the stay, and we all want to revisit Baunei.
We loved 4 Mori.

"Watching sunsets from the roof terrace - priceless!"
Six of us were staying here for 11 days in the mid of July. We had absolutely fabulous time here. The house is superb – ideal for a family with young children. We had my wife's parents with us and they loved it too. The house is located near the top of the town in a quiet authentic setting but all the shops and café's are just a few hundred steps down (quite literally!). The views from the roof are splendid – panoramic view overlooks the valley, mountains and coastline. The house is lovely decorated and is well equipped. Beds are excellent and linen are of very high quality. Were having excellent night's sleep – thanks to higher altitude and the way house is built, it was never hot inside despite very hot weather. Oh, and no mosquitoes – you can leave windows open any time!
Enrico, the owner, is very helpful and friendly but not in an intrusive way. He also has prepared a lot of very useful info in English that helped us a lot.
The only criticism I would have is the driveway and the front yard - they are not done completely so a little extra care needed when accessing the house from the street. I'm sure this will be addressed soon.
Overall – every bit as advertised and more, excellent value, extremely helpful owner, takes pride in what he does.
Thanks Enrico for a wonderful time we had in Baunei and the area!

"Delightful stay in authentic house"
Two of us stayed in this house for 10 days. It is really a delightful place and the view from the roof terrace is spectacular - the sea on your left and the mountains in front and to the right. (The terrace is well fenced and most of it is completely private.) It is an old village house (on the edge of Baunei), but it has been lovingly renovated and we felt warm, welcome and comfortable. There is a lot of space! Despite the village location it feels rural. It is also very quiet. You'll always get the occasional dog in the distance or cat in the alley wherever you rent a house, but these did not disturb us. All bedroom windows have shutters, so early dawns need not disturb your sleep. You are almost always unaware of any neighbours. The central heating was very efficient and there was plenty of hot water. Because the walls are thick we believe that the house will stay cool in the summer if the doors and windows are kept shut. The house is well equipped for four to six people. (One or two very minor details will probably be attended to.) It is impractical to explore the whole of Sardinia from one location. A north/south split would be attractive. From Brunei, however, you explore the eastern and central areas, with wonderful bays and superb mountain runs. We did not get bored! We can certainly recommend this house. By the way, Enrico, the owner, is very helpful indeed and writes extremely good English. He also sent a lot of information about the surrounding area. We found that the description on this website is totally accurate.
