The Penang Island region

Penang is a state in Malaysia and the name of its constituent island, located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia by the Strait of Malacca. It is composed of two parts – Penang Island, where the seat of government is, and Seberang Perai (formerly, and occasionally Province Wellesley) on the Malay Peninsula.

It's capital known as Georgetown, located in the North-East of the island, is recently declared as a UNESCO heritage site, in recognition of the rich history of the island. Penang was an important colony and trading hub of the British in the 19th and 20th century.

It's multi-ethnic population lends it a rich culture and variety in cuisine that has made Penang famous for its street food throughout Asia.

Penang enjoys a year-round tropical rainforest climate which is warm and sunny, along with plentiful rainfall, especially during the Southwest Monsoon from April to September. The climate is very much dictated by the surrounding sea and the wind system.

Batu Ferringhi

Batu Ferringhi is the most popular beach area in Penang where most of the international hotels are located, e.g.. Shangri-La, Holiday Inn and Hard Rock Hotel.

The attractions here include the Tropical Spice garden, the Tropical Fruit Farm, the National Park, the Butterfly Farm, etc. At night, the main street is converted into an open-air bazaar that stretches for about a kilometre. This is where the tourist come to buy their holiday souvenirs, a relaxing massage or the famous Penang food in the semi, open air food courts.

Hi Christine,

Thanks for taking time to post your review.

Albert has mentioned to me about the issues with the 2 bathrooms you highlighted. I'm happy to let you know that I have had roller-blinds installed in those 2 bathrooms to maintain privacy.

Thank you for taking the time to post the review.

The construction you mentioned is that of a development called Ferringhi Residence by one of the top development companies in the country, the Mah Sing Group. The actual work currently taking place is at a corner of the land away from Tropika Ferringhi.

I have spoken to other guests who stayed at Tropika Ferringhi and they have informed me that they did not find the construction to be of any problem at all.

I do apologise for my agent's non-punctuality. I have spoken to him and reminded him of the importance of being punctual.
